As title! How on earth do people get their lipstick to stay and not wear off all the time???

I used to used Lipcote lipstick sealer when I wore normal lipstick. But I've been using long wear lip colour for years, maybelline 24hr lip colour and their new vinyl ink. Both last for hours with me.

^This exactly. When I want to wear a classic lipstick, usually one of my MAC ones, I use Lipcote, but day to day I use the Maybelline ones which REALLY stay.

thedevilinablackdress · 22/11/2024 16:56

Lip liner all over lips underneath the lipstick

GettingStuffed · 22/11/2024 20:06

Use a lip brush , blot after first coat and redo.

Noredtape · 22/11/2024 20:43

Wonderskin lip stain.

PoliticallyErect · 22/11/2024 20:45

It doesn't stay concept this and reapply as and when.

I use tinted lip oils and balms these days so can apply without the need of a mirror

HansHolbein · 22/11/2024 20:45

I only wear YSL lipsticks and they never budge for me.

Which YSL formulation please?

Fireworknight · 23/11/2024 09:17

Maybelline 24 superstar works for me.

Wonderskin lip stain.

Ohhh I always wondered if this stuff was okay! Looks a bit gimmicky but interesting.
Thanks everyone! Do they still make lipcote!?

Boots and Superdrug stockit

LilacLilyBird · 24/11/2024 01:54

The Kylie lip kits stay on for ages hence their popularity when they first came out.

urbanbuddha · 24/11/2024 02:01

Yes, but they hide it - I always have to ask where it is.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 24/11/2024 02:11

Wonderskin is the one for me. I love it.

JMAngel1 · 24/11/2024 06:43

I just got the Maybelline Vinyl Ink yesterday off the back of this thread - so far so great. It goes on very smooth and stays nicely moist (not like a lot of long stay formulations that dry down matte and can crack). No transfer at all. I put it on around 2pm and it was still going strong at 9.30pm when I washed my face. Multiple drinks, pizza later. I got the shade Captivated - the lightest nude shade but it’s still warm toned.

HansHolbein · 24/11/2024 13:08

@JMAngel1 Sorry, I don’t know what you mean by formulation but I have many of these shades and they have never let me down. For years I searched! www.harveynichols.com/yves-saint-laurent/rouge-pur-couture-lipstick-980251-na06-n1-163706/

JMAngel1 · 24/11/2024 16:01

@HansHolbein
thank you. They look lovely - but very spendy

Back21970 · 24/11/2024 16:09

When I used to go clubbing, long time ago now, I would fill in my lips with pencil, apply lip stick with a brush, let it dry for a few minutes, blot then repeat.

I would wake up the next day and it would still be there!

My lips however were wrecked after, bone dry and peeling, wore a tinted balm till they recovered in time to repeat the process the following week 🤣

BusterGonad · 26/11/2024 09:12

I always find higher end brands stay on better, and a matt or satin formula not gloss. Paired with a decent lip pencil. Personally I cannot stay the Maybelline matt ink stuff. Makes your lips dry and crusty and is so unnatural feeling and looking. But that's my experience anyway.

WhatTheKey · 26/11/2024 09:27

That Maybelline stuff is magic. If you forget to take off your makeup, it will stay on for days...

UnderZealous · 26/11/2024 09:52

I always find higher end brands stay on better, I don't. I find the mid range ones are fine. It depends on the type of cosmetic.

It really does. When I wear the poppy red shade, I have to scrub it off at the end of the day with a flannel.

Came on to give both of these recommendations!

Exactly, we're discussing lipstick and I find the higher brands better. Lancome is my favourite lipstick brand, goes on smoothly, thick, long lasting, I had the Chanel rouge velvet lipstick also and that was beautiful, long lasting and non drying. I rate the L'Oreal lipsticks in the gold bullet but they're not particularly long lasting and a bit slippy. But the colours are beautiful, lovely scent and non drying formula that doesn't irritate the lips.

UnderZealous · 26/11/2024 18:45

I've not tried Lancome for years but they used to have different types and the matt ones did stay put for a while. MAC seems to be good, but the ones I have are matt and red.

The maybelline ones tend to stick on the outer part of my lips but not so much on the inner part. I have an Essence lip gel that stays put for hours.

Anything creamy does not last on me.
