2 lighthearted S&B questions for autumn!

Just hoping to garner thoughts and musings on two current styles.

Firstly, horseshoe jeans. I was intrigued and spotted some from M&S which I ordered and tried on. They fit fine and (being M&S) aren't too edgy. Much more possible than I thought. But will I wear them? Are they too here today gone tomorrow? They slightly look like I got my favourite denim jacket and repurposed its arms into legs iyswim. Do other people like the style? I've got too many jeans anyway really. They are slightly like someone got chat gpt to invent a brand new style.

I'm not really asking should I buy these jeans or do you like these M&S jeans just - generally; horseshoe jeans.

Secondly, burgundy colour for autumn. I like this colour and am interested in this colour for AW 24! Any good recommendations for items in burgundy?

Also, I think of burgundy as very dark red. But some looks more dark brown online.

None of your links work.

Horseshoe jeans have been around for a while now. They're a staple of Nili Lotan have been making this style for quite a while now. Bought a pair a few years now and have several pairs/variations. I prefer a looser jean. While it's fair to say that once M&S are doing a new style of jeans, they're not edgy. But, that's not a bad thing as they are a key trend for the next few seasons. If being in fashion/on trend is something you aspire to be, then they're a good purchase. However, and again, only if you wear them.

Nobody can answer if you are going to wear something, only you know the answer to this. And a hint - just put them on and wear them! Seriously though, if you like them and find them comfortable, there's no reason not to wear them. They're just jeans.

Can't advise re. burgundy, I used to have to wear it for school and it's not a colour I would wear now. Tbh, it's another variation on merlot/ox blood/claret, again colours I don't wear. These colours appear every A/W, along with espresso (dark brown), which is also huge this season. A nice sweater or bag is a good starting point.

BeetledBrow · 25/10/2024 19:33

They’re not the OP’s links - they’re an MNHQ thing (which has caused long and loud complaints).

But why do I feel I’ve read this exact thread a few weeks ago?

tobee · 25/10/2024 19:39

Thanks that's a nice, rational response!

WRT the jeans, there was a thread about this style a few weeks ago and I wondered if people had gone ahead and bought some and what they liked etc. I have too many jeans due to the fact that I'm always looking to find some that are going to be so comfortable but also stylish. And now I'm just always up for something I've not tried before.

Yes, I've seen other people say they can't be doing with burgundy as was school uniform. I know these things aren't new but it's interesting to see them come around again and be repackaged.

BTW the links didn't work as I didn't post any! Just fancied musing after a stressful day.

I hate horseshoe jeans
I love burgundy/ claret/wine. I am olive skinned and dark haired so it suits me.

tobee · 25/10/2024 19:40

Ooh I've answered your question there I think @BeetledBrow re the horseshoe jeans

OP could nail two birds with one stone, although sadly these jeans are pretty much sold out. (For reason I don't understand, they're showing in khaki rather than the burgundy that I've actually linked to 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Have you seen anything/bought anything yet in burgundy/claret/wine @Lentilweaver ?

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 25/10/2024 19:42

@tobee @BeetledBrow

Thank you for explaining the M&S links!

tobee · 25/10/2024 19:45

Ah! That's very adroit of you @bunnybunnybunnybunny!

Actually, the burgundy did come up for me rather than the khaki. Which reminds me that keot happening to me the other day. Clicking a link colour and a completely different colour being shown🫤 Maybe some weird glitch in the online fashion buying universe. "Look if I wanted khaki I'd have asked for khaki!"

OP posts:
Lentilweaver · 25/10/2024 19:46

Nope I haven't bought anything new yet as am trying to buy less and I have a couple of burgundy tops already. Might buy a burgundy jumper or coat perhaps.

Thoughtsandideas · 25/10/2024 19:50

I’m the exact opposite to @Lentilweaver I love horseshoe jeans!
But hate anything burgundy 😂

I’m very tall and quite skinny with broad shoulders so horseshoe jeans are good for me, I think. But I’m distinctly not olive skinned and anything reddish will never be the one on my complexion!

Thighdentitycrisis · 25/10/2024 19:54

I’ve seen lots of people in burgundy raincoats, I like the colour although wore a version at school (maroon) and would wear it again but I don’t need anything

tobee · 25/10/2024 20:22

Ooh I like all these burgundy links!

I have these jeans which are horseshoe-esque. I love them!

I got this cardi in burgundy back at the end of August. I had a feeling it would sell out and it’s no longer showing so must have done.

Burgundy makes me think I'm back in school uniform unfortunately, I do like it but I need to find the right item I think.
Horseshoe jeans make the wearer look like they've got rickets.

Deathraystare · 04/11/2024 09:05

Ah so that is the style, I thought all the models were posing strangely. Hmm not for me.

I absolutely loathe Burgundy but it really does not suit me anyway. I think it was last year that a particularly flat, dull burgundy was 'in'. However of course you may well suit the colour. There is certainly enough of it around!!

LoobyDoop2 · 04/11/2024 09:10

My school uniform was also burgundy, and it took me years to stop hating it. But I’m a total convert now. The best thing about it is how brilliantly it goes with other colours. Hot/deep pink, orange and olive green all look fantastic with it.

Floisme · 04/11/2024 09:38

Yes I like horseshoe jeans a lot. I've got a couple of pairs and had them several years so I think I've had my moneys worth.

I also really like burgundy although I can't give you any recs - sorry - as I've not bought anything recently. I've never really had any trouble finding it so I was a bit surprised to read it was a trend.

Floisme · 04/11/2024 11:10

To be more precise, none of mine were called 'horseshoe jeans' when I bought them. They had names like, 'curve leg' 'barrel leg' 'balloon leg' and more besides. But it was the same idea so I'd say it's the name that's relatively new, rather than the style itself. Admittedly they do seem to be getting wider and more pronounced now, e.g. the latest Sienna Miller for M&S ones which I really like.

tobee · 06/11/2024 14:39

Thanks @Floisme. Yes I've now spotted the different names for horse shoe jeans.

Ah that's interesting about the colours burgundy goes with @LoobyDoop2 . I'd only got as far as neutral colours in my mind

tobee · 06/11/2024 14:42

And thanks everyone else too! Just catching up on here
