2 lighthearted S&B questions for autumn!

Just hoping to garner thoughts and musings on two current styles.

Firstly, horseshoe jeans. I was intrigued and spotted some from M&S which I ordered and tried on. They fit fine and (being M&S) aren't too edgy. Much more possible than I thought. But will I wear them? Are they too here today gone tomorrow? They slightly look like I got my favourite denim jacket and repurposed its arms into legs iyswim. Do other people like the style? I've got too many jeans anyway really. They are slightly like someone got chat gpt to invent a brand new style.

I'm not really asking should I buy these jeans or do you like these M&S jeans just - generally; horseshoe jeans.

Secondly, burgundy colour for autumn. I like this colour and am interested in this colour for AW 24! Any good recommendations for items in burgundy?

Also, I think of burgundy as very dark red. But some looks more dark brown online.

I think of burgundy as one of my neutrals. Depending on the shade, I wear it with dark green, grey, navy, camel (if it's a deep shade), brown, orange, red.

Just bought some barrel leg jeans. A new shape for me, so will see if I actually wear them! I do like a bit of burgundy - I wear it with black, grey, cream, etc. defo not with navy - too reminiscent of my school uniform, lol.

Horse shoe jeans just make people look bandy legged to me. They feel like abit of a niche style TBH, like bell bottoms.

I love burgundy though, although Ive not bought much in the colour....just a huge, thick scarf from Primark (just dipping my toe in on the cheap!!LOL).

I love burgundy. I've just bought this from Uniqlo.

I'm going down the burgundy accessories route. A burgundy Cashmere beanie, leather bag from eBay & burgundy trainers - Adidas flatforms. It's easier when everything matches.
I would have loved a pair of the barrel Sienna jeans, as I've worn the earlier iteration a lot. But hopefully I will pick up a return at some point.

Horseshoe jeans are a bizarre fashion offering that looks like the wearer has spent too much time in the saddle or suffers from rickets - I shall be avoiding them as I have no wish to appear like either.

Burgundy is a fab colour, have bought a couple of things - it's very early 90s.

I want a burgundy jumper but everything is either acrylic or above my budget. I always get compliments if I wear any red or purple tones near my face. Pastels look terrible on me.

Greentiwels · 07/11/2024 11:01

Hate burgundy, it's too 80's for me

TheLeadbetterLife · 07/11/2024 11:36

I love my horseshoe jeans, and I like burgundy, although I agree there are so many different shades.

I've been trying to find a deep, garnet red jumper for years (not sure why, it's just something I feel I need), and hoped with all the burgundy at the moment that something might come up. No luck so far, nothing is quite the shade I'm looking for.

Loving the differing opinions!

My dd bought a pair of Cos barrel leg jeans on Vinted last winter. They were too big on her so gave them to me. I'm surprised how much I like wearing them, despite being fairly short I think the shape suits me. They are a fairly subtle barrel shape though.

Burgundy - love it. I had a sort out of my knitwear recently and was somewhat surprised about how much I already had! No need to buy anything new.
