Please help me fix my dream heels!

I've finally managed to get my hands on the Kurt Geiger Pierre heels after years of really wanting them. I got the matching bag and purse as undergrad graduation gifts but I could just never justify the price.

I managed to find them today in TK Maxx and I really want to wear them for my masters graduation next month. The thing is, they're missing the right ankle strap. I got a huge discount for this thinking I'd maybe be able to buy a replacement from KG online but I can't see anywhere that they would do this since I didn't buy directly from them. Still worth reaching out but I'm not holding out hope.

Does anybody have any suggestions on anywhere that might sell them, from factory damaged shoes maybe or returns etc? Does anybody know someone who works for KG and may be able to work some magic? I'm praying I can find one as although I can take the left one off and wear them without, they won't be how they are meant to be :(

Thanks in advance

I paid 25 quid for a new strap from the cobblers not that long ago and it was plain black shoes.

I think it's extremely unlikely that they'd be able to source exactly that material, it's pretty specific and if they do it's unlikely to cost less than the 17 pounds and could take months.

Yes that's more likely than KG sending sub-standard goods to be sold.
Not sure where my head was, thinking that!

I bought a pair of KG shoes from TK Maxx, different style to OPs and they also had missing ankle straps but it was both and I didn't realise till I got home and tried to walk about in them!

So let me get this straight. OP, you paid £18 for a pair of sandals that John Lewis are currently selling for £159, but you are not willing to spend another £17 to make the dream sandals perfect. I don't get it Confused

If you don't want to buy the vinted pair because you don't think you'll be able to sell them on with a missing strap, then surely the answer is to buy them, spend a few pounds on a random pair of straps, and then resell them with those straps in place.

Then you have your sandals, complete with original straps (plus a spare), and you hopefully pretty much make your money back on the vinted pair.

No I don't get it either. It's the perfect solution to buy those vinted ones and use the straps. What's the point of buying your dream shoes and wearing them with a piece of ribbon for a strap. That will look crap as well as being really uncomfortable.

Did you see this? Lots of colours here

Checking that Vinted listing days later to see that OP still hasn't bought them. Why? Why delay and risk someone else buying the exact strap she needs?

You only graduate with your MSc once.

Nuts not to buy the Vinted ones! You'd spend £17 in time & faffing about trying to get something else that wouldn't be quite right, bet you could get them for about £12/£13

Come on OP!

If KG can't sell you a spare strap, you take the ankle straps (both, so you have a spare) from the Vinted size threes and bin the Vinted size threes. You then have perfect, complete KG heels for £36, which, for comparison purposes, is what Next charge for their own brand strappy heels that are far less pretty.

This. It’s wild that you’re considering ribbon which will look a bit naff, when you can actually get the right straps so cheaply.

false economy (and barely save you a fiver).

I'm getting strong scarcity mindset vibes from OP's posts. I recognise the urge to save every last penny and to go through all sorts of hoops and make all kinds of compromises to save a few quid because I've done it myself. Often, this has backfired because the cheapskate option didn't work and I have had to shell out for the "proper" option on top of what I paid for the cheapskate option, costing me more than if I'd just gone for the "proper" option in the first place.

Older-me, with a bit more money, recognises that trying to penny-pinch is often counterproductive, even though I still struggle to throw things away.

OP: it's worth £17 to get the correct strap and a spare and it's OK to buy the Vinted size threes, take the straps, and bin them to get the correct strap. You only graduate with an MSc once: it's worth £17 to do so with complete KG's on your feet.

Edited

You're right. My family has always been poor and I really struggle to spend money I don't absolutely HAVE to on myself without feeling guilty. Even now extending to my food shop lol as I get so scared of later down the line needing that money and not having any. It's an absolute miracle I made it through uni not once but twice, with how skint I was, even working alongside. I would never have bought the shoes without the strap missing as I'd never have been able to justify the cost without the damage discount but I was just so happy when I saw them in person after so long thinking about them... I don't buy much online either as soon as I get to putting my card details in I just back out. I've just offered a small discount on the Vinted pair, so we'll see what they come back with. Thanks for the encouragement everyone🙂

Please think about trying to change your mindset on this, because it's so unhealthy. The 'poor boy' or scarcity mindset is very damaging and can affect your parenting if you don't watch it.
