Wide leg jeans - are these any good?

widelegenes · 05/10/2024 13:32

Finally managed to get hold of some in Long. 2 different sizes (not much difference tbh)
What do you think?
I think they fit me well but don't particularly flatter me.

Apologies for the skimpy base layer, I wanted to show the fit. I'd wear with a jumper that ends just below the waist.

I have no idea if they are any good but that the look I'm after!

They are wearing you, rather than you wearing them

Too big, too stiff looking, not cut well

GinBlossom94 · 05/10/2024 16:49

Never heard of halara before, take it it's a legit website etc? (Sorry very untrusting)

Doggymummar · 05/10/2024 16:51

I don't think they fit you right.

Grinapart from all that, they're great! 👖

Why do the youngsters look so good in them?

I've got quite a few wide legs in non jeans fabric and they look good (I think!).

They look better when quite fitted at the top. Or completely slouchy and lower waisted.
It's not only these two options but my point is that the difference in good and bad are the details.

Yours are not fitted enough at the waist and hip and not the right style to be slouchy. Slouchy would be in a more worn in wash. Not deep even blue. The dark blue would require a more fitted shape at the hip to look right

Actually, I think the jeans in the first photograph look lovely on you. I'm surprised at the comments on here - I would absolutely keep them and enjoy wearing them. The whole wide leg look takes a bit of getting used to, but I've found them to be very comfortable and also stylish compared to skinny jeans.

It says it all that in my pretty unfashionable area of Gloucestershire, M and S is absolutely stuffed with skinny jeans and wide legged ones are a rare find!

Nailed it. They only work when the denim is super soft as they need to flow a bit. Otherwise when they are stiff they just… stand there on their own 😆

I’ve given up. I’m like you OP, tall and slim legged and I cannot find a pair that works apart from some Mint Velvet ones that were £109 actual pounds. And I’m used to the silhouette as I wear a lot of wide leg trousers.

MorrisZapp · 05/10/2024 19:19

Sorry OP, I didn't mean to imply that you were even remotely lumpy or dumpy - you have a gorgeous figure, those jeans aren't anyones best friend.

Oh I don't take it that way at all.
I wish us both success in our quest for the perfect jeans.

If in doubt, don't.

These are M&S and they're pretty sold out. SOMEONE must be wearing them and not looking wide leg fail!

I think I'll stick to regular flares.

Everything in Marks is always sold out, they get on my nerves trying to find anything that is in stock

Cantonet · 06/10/2024 23:29

I like the ones in the first picture.
Styled & posed they would have looked wonderful on you. I'm not really sure why other posters are not agreeing.
The other jeans are too big on you.

Drivingoverlemons · 06/10/2024 23:35

I thought they were nice but would be nicer in a lighter colour.

On the wider subject I haven’t seen anyone at my school run wearing wide legged jeans yet. All the teens do.

I don't do a school run any more.
I see plenty of non teens wearing these jeans. I think fashion is for all ages (though acknowledge that some things definitely look better at different life stages).

I'm 60 & wear wide legged jeans regularly. Why would anyone want to copy school gate style? Here, it's all skinny jeans, with Joules tops, on chunky bodies.
Incidentally darker wash jeans are far more stylish in Winter. Lighter wash jeans are fantastic in summer with a white T or White Shirt.

I totally agree, and I love the look of wide legged jeans. Thinking of getting some myself. It’s just that this fashion update hasn’t reached my village yet so skinny jeans don’t look out of place. Or maybe just people wear the wide-legged trousers more for work, days out and pubs etc.

I am tall/slim/athletic and I have had lots of compliments on these jeans. They look a bit wider leg on me than in the photos. They're my first venture into wide leg jeans (and possibly my last!). But I do love them

I've tried these, but they didn't have them in the longer length I need. I agree though, they are a lovely fit.

Holister super baggy are the business. You will think they will look crap because they are for youngsters but they are really great, slouchy, relaxed and flattering. www.hollisterco.com/shop/uk/womens-bottoms-super-baggy-jeans-jeans
