Could someone please send me a link to a tried and trusted overseas site so I can buy some online? I bought some recently and it definitely wasn't the real thing.

Also, I'm going to Tenerife next month. Can you buy it over the counter there does anyone know? Thanks!

This is the website Tret World gave me and I've ordered from www.skinsaviours.uk/

Ooh thanks ! What strength should a beginner usually start with ? And how often ? Sorry never used it before

LateMumma · 08/01/2025 11:37

@jimmyateworld definitely the lowest strength, 0.025%, and for at least a whole tube, depending on how you tolerate it. It can be really drying initially, so use sparingly, 2-3x a week and with lots of moisturiser. I'm sure other people have wisdom to add on this, but that's what worked for me!

jimmyateworld · 08/01/2025 15:40

@LateMumma That's amazing, thank you !

pinkhimalayan · 08/01/2025 16:56

I would recommend getting from Monderma, Skin+Me or Dermatica as they're the most well-known and regulated in the UK. Start with 0.015 or 0.02%. Tret is so effective.

This is how I started. If your skin feels irritated and stingy or becomes really flakey stop using it for a few days and use plenty of moisturiser. Avoid heavily scented moisturisers. I used my DDs child's farm moisturiser. Also heard of people using vaseline at night.

Most importantly ensure you use SPF every day.

I just went onto skin and me, all it's recommended me is vitamin c serum ! For £30 a month...

Can you not ask for tretinoin specifically? Surely it's a bit of scam if they are not even offering that - it's basically their USP.

jimmyateworld · 09/01/2025 12:22

@HornyHornersPinkyWinky maybe I could I'm not sure how it works though. I had to answer some questions about my skin and what I was after from my skin, what I put down you would think they would offer tret or even hyaluronic acid but nothing 🤷‍♀️

Be warned. This is me with a broken skin barrier after using Tret.

Started on 0.5% then moved up to 1% after five months.

At first I thought it was just skin sensitivity and as I was seeing good results I continued.

Two weeks ago I woke up like this.

It's sore, weeping and scabby. I can't tolerate anything on it apart from Epaderm.

Tried using Vaseline but that seemed to make it more crusty.

Obviously I stopped using Tret for 2 weeks and gradually it calmed down. The redness was still there but the skin was dry.

Started using 0.5% last night but literally just round my eyes and it's totally flared up again.

So, the moral of the story is, if you're getting excessive stinging or acne like spots after 5 months, stop using Tret for a while. I didn't get any initial purging when I first started so thought I was tolerating it well. Lesson learned.

I won't use tret now until my skin is fully healed. Which is a bummer as I was seeing really good results.

Just thought I'd put this out there

I have been using tret for a long time now and this has never happened. I would suggest visiting a good derm asap.

I would suggest contacting their customer service or something - there is no point in paying that much for a Vitamin C serum, which you can easily get over the counter.

The whole point of these subscription services is they are offering a product that's not easily available without prescription. Tell them you would like tretinoin, and if they don't offer it then go somewhere else.

FYI, I'm not in the UK so can't use Skin & Me, Dermatica etc. but I buy mine from an online pharmacy so I can give you those details if you still can't get hold of it.

menohnopausal · 09/01/2025 13:13

@jimmyateworld how odd! You can definitely ask specifically for tret though. I'm wondering if it might be a contraception issue? I know someone who couldn't get prescription tretinoin from a dermatologist because she wasn't using "acceptable" contraception (couldn't use hormonal contraception or the coil).

100% valid point. The price is so high for just a vit c serum so their customer service should be great

iciclemelts · 10/01/2025 17:38

I get mine from SkinCareKetrel. It's a Slovakian company and they post to UK. Ketrel is another brand of pure tret. I am on 0.05% for last 4 months and my skin is already at the glass stage. Looks fabulous!

Hi all. So I signed up to Dermatica and they've prescribed this -
Adapalene 0.1%
Benzoyl peroxide 2.5%
Niacinamide 4%
Any idea what Adapalene is?!

Jedstre · 13/01/2025 12:29

Adapalene is a retinoid specifically for acne. They’ve put benzoyl peroxide in there too so I’m assuming you’ve got acne. Be aware that bp bleaches clothes, towels, bed linen etc- basically anything it comes into contact with.

Tretinoin is usually prescribed as part of an anti ageing regime alongside things like azelaic acid and niacinamide as examples.

Hi yes I do get quite bad hormonal acne, I uploaded some photos of it at it's worst and then how my face is once the breakouts go down, so leaving red patches etc.
Will the Adapalene help with the pigmentation/scarring left from the acne do you know?
Thanks

Derms generally prescribe for acne.

Pigmentation and scarring can be tricky post acne but a retinoid is the way to go, and it’s what you’re being treated with, so that’s good.

LoveLabradors · 13/01/2025 16:30

Does anyone know if you can buy otc tret in Slovenia please? Heading there next month. I used to buy airol tret in Greece and have finally eked out the last of my stash! If not I will try one of the recommended ones on here.
Has anyone tried And Begin for tret? Thanks

That site doesn’t work either. I hunted for ages for them both but couldn’t find them anymore😂 I did find a new link if anyone still needs it ?

LateMumma · 21/06/2025 06:05

@Chez344yes please, nothing I can find seems to work anymore either. I’ve had an email from a company called Tretify Tret world, which looks like it may be linked to the old tret world, but only 1 (bad) trustpilot revie
