Clothing like Thought, People Tree and Bibico

I really like the 'ethical' style clothing.

If I like the above brands, can anyone recommend similar?

i really like using This website to check sustainability of companies.

Does Birdsong make clothing anymore? I thought they folded during Covid.

Sad as People Tree is also gone and Thought has turned into a producer of v boring clothing when I used to be waiting impatiently for every collection, the dramatic prints have all gone.

I'd really like to find a replacement for Thought circa 2021, Birdsong and People Tree V & A collection as this was where I bought everything.

Community Clothing ticks your ethical boxes (I think, I hope), but is more "Gap" and less "Toast" in style

Are People Tree back? I pretty much wore only their clothes in my twenties. Agree with a pp that Thought have gone very boring (except for their socks which are still as good as in the Braintree days).

ETA: oh... just found People Tree website and they are boring now too.

Very much their own style and dressier than the other brands listed but Palava makes all of its clothes in the UK with the exception of cotton knitwear which is from one tested and inspected factory in Turkey. Wool knitwear is made in the UK.

Everything is cotton, linen, tencel or wool.

I love Palava on the website but sadly when I bought something it was clearly designed for a woman with a different shape to me.

Very sad as it's the closest to ethical brand, not boring I have got since the others went.

I'm 5'2" or 3" and a 14 or a 16 and everything fits really well, although I suppose although I'm no longer slim, everything is still in proportion.

I've known of Palava for a few years, but happened upon their shop on Caledonian Rd when I was in London recently. I stopped in and tried a few things on. Their clothes are made for someone shorter, straighter and significantly less well endowed than me.

I recently discovered Roake studio made in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight quite local to me.

I've found Palava to be very poor quality stitching especially around the zips and have had to have all three of mine mended after one wear.

Not my experience at all. My oldest dress must be 8 years or so. None has even lost a button let alone needed repair.

Baukjen is good too

Also a different way of buying but I've had quite a few nice things from Unfolded.
