The perfect ankle boots

I'm on the hunt for the perfect ankle boots but have yet to strike gold and hoping Mumsnet might be able to help! I usually spend my autumn/winter in DM boots but looking for something different to change things up a bit. Key criteria are they have to be comfy enough to wear all day, with a bit of a heel but no more than 2", and I'd like to be able to wear them with jeans and skirts/dresses. Budget is up to £150ish but that could shift for the right pair! I quite like western style and quite like the idea of brown suede (definitely not black). I've been looking at Ash but not entirely convinced so looking for other options and would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks in advance!

You mentioned Ash in your initial post and I would say they probably match your brief closely. I've had a few pairs over the years and find them incredibly comfortable too. I got a great pair good as new in Vinted last year and have just checked and found these in your size: www.vinted.co.uk/items/4421692405-ladies-brown-suede-ankle-boots-size-8

Or these: www.vinted.co.uk/items/4867362293-grey-suede-ash-boots

Those boots are in poor condition all marked, wouldn't pay £4, let alone £40

Thanks for the suggestions! All really helpful but I'm still hunting for the perfect pair. I've honed the search a bit and am looking at either western style or heeled Chelsea boots - in dark brown leather or suede - definitely leather not faux. I also know I definitely want a bit of a heel rather than completely flat, but no higher than 2". It doesn't sound like an impossible find to me and I've found a few options but just don't love any of them and I want to really love them - but maybe I'm just fussy!

I’m looking for something similar and TKMaxx online have loads. https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/women/shoes/boots/c/01050200

SingingGoldfinch · 17/09/2024 07:11

Thanks @Karmagician I'm looking to buy new though - I've bought shoes on Vinted before and it's never gone well! I've actually found brand new Ash boots elsewhere for less than that first pair too!

I love my Timberlands! And I walk the dog a lot - they are pretty much indestrucitble. My DH swears by his Vinted-gems Bluntstone (not sure about name, but he keeps yapping on about them)

Waystation · 17/09/2024 08:05

I didn’t know I needed new ankle boots….. thanks just ordered these!

Think Blundies are a bit Marmite. I bought some and they were the uncomfiest boots ever! Glad they work for your DH. But approach with caution!

I am similarly evangelical about Solovairs 😀

Fly London Salv! Super comfy, small heel wedge and great with dresses. Loads of colours with suede and leather options. Size down - I’m a 7 in any other brand but wear 6/40 in Fly.

I have the lace up ones and they feel like slippers they are so comfy

Numsmetty · 17/09/2024 10:17

Another fan of fly London boots here! Worth finding a shop and trying them on, I go between 37 and 38 depending on the style. Definitely my favourite boots though, so comfy, well designed and they last!

DoubleParent · 17/09/2024 10:30

Op, I know you've said you don't want second hand, but I've just spotted the lovely Hush Puppies Isobel in size 8 on Vinted if you wanted to have a peek. 10 quid!

SorrelForbes · 17/09/2024 14:51

Another vote for Ash (Jalouse style)

SingingGoldfinch · 17/09/2024 15:37

Thank you so much for all the suggestions - I have spent literally hours looking at boots and am almost losing sight of what I want now as I've seen so many different options - but at the moment I am closing in on these beauties - all sold out in size 8 in Jones but luckily M&S have a few in stock! https://www.marksandspencer.com/leather-chelsea-block-heel-ankle-boots/p/clp22572592?color=BROWN&prevPage=srp#intid=pidpg1pip42g2r18c2|prodflagg_Online%20Only

Anything at Esska? I have these in gunmetal and they're super comfy as well as looking great, but I also covet many of their other styles.

I was going to suggest these too. I have them in black and brown and I love them. I got my normal size but agree they are roomy and I probably could have sized down. I do appreciate being able to wear thick socks with them in winter though. I use cherry blossom ready wax on them and they have kept my feet dry in some very wet weather!

Smallsalt · 18/09/2024 00:27

Fly of London wedges. I live in mine.

Hoolihan · 18/09/2024 00:36

These could fit the bill - almost sold out though! I've been dithering over them for a few days. www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-anyday-purcie-leather-soft-elastic-chelsea-boots/brown/p110826865

Lurking on this thread

A few years ago I saw a gorgeous pair in M&S, light tan suede, v dipped front, small heel ankle boots. In my size. Reduced to £9
I have worn them to absolute death!

Identical to these and I can't find a pair I like to replace them. They're all either too wide, too big a heel, don't have the V at the front...

These are exactly what I want! I had a pair just like this years ago that I wore till they fell apart and I’ve been looking to replace them ever since.
