What autumn jackets do you have?

henlake7 · 07/09/2024 08:58

Looking for some inspiration (and pure nosiness as well!) and wondering what everybody else has in their autumn jacket collection?

I have the ubiquitous denim jacket and biker jacket. Also a couple of blazer type coats (one brown plaid and one olive green) and a lovely cropped mink coloured suedette shacket. Then my Orla Kiely waterproof jacket for rainy days.
Am currently toying with the idea of a short teddy fleece coat as they look very cosy....

How about you?

You got the Flossie jacket? I'm so jealous, this is my face Envy

Newyorkersos · 09/09/2024 22:37

OP @henlake7 where is your mink coloured jacket from please? Mink is the only type of colour that suits me - versus "brown / tan / camel" etc.

I did get it. And it is lovely. It's quite a thick tweed and is good for this in between time of year.

Floisme · 09/09/2024 22:48

I stalked it through the sales but in the end I just couldn't justify it - it's not like I'm short of jackets! Enjoy it!

CatherineCawoodsbestie · 10/09/2024 01:15

So many gorgeous jackets!

My collection is paltry in comparison….

Uniqlo teddy bear short jacket
M and S Goodmove thin puffa (a dupe of the Uniqlo ultralight collarless puffa)
An old seasalt rain jacket 4 sizes too big for me.
my teenage son’s old waterproof ish jacket.
(I have a long Lands End puffa for the winter)

I would love an All Saints biker - maybe one day!
And I do need a decent waterproof coat - I live in South Wales! What i would love is a Protected species trench for wafting about in, and a north face or rab waterproof jacket for the coastal path and long country walks. What I will probably end up with it whatever is in the Mountain Warehouse sale! 😂😂😂. One day…..

Furry black coat
Black oversize puffer
Navy cropped fake suede jacket
Light black raincoat
Grey wool coat
Black denim jacket
White denim jacket
Anorak
Purple puffer for extreme cold days

Think that's it but I need to have a look

Garlictest · 10/09/2024 06:32

Shortly after I put myself on a Serious Ban on new clothes, I developed an irrational but unshakeable craving for a tan suede jacket. I have no idea why. It wouldn't go away, so I bought this ... and haven't worn it yet!

Shortly before The Ban, I got the Cos cropped linen jacket. It's supposed to be oversized but honestly looks like it's hovering several inches away from me. I like it, though, so I wear it.

I have a cropped denim jacket, a practical yellow Cotton Traders weatherproof one, a hideous but warm old padded jacket and a weird M&S swing coat made of scratchy recycled polyester, because I love the colour (very bright blue). Am consumed with envy of some of yours above, especially the Pauw cashmere.

I have 1 fairly ancient men's Barbour quilted jacket (but almost coat length on me) which I wear from about now to about April/May. If it gets really cold I have a Woolrich duvet coat, but I have only needed this about twice since I bought it in 2019.

Summertimer · 10/09/2024 09:50

My autum/spring transitional jacket selection usually marks a shift away from blues and greens palette I wear in summer.

My favourite is a camel coloured wool blazer I’ve owned since 1995. It’s always been a bit snug with a long sleeved jumper underneath so definitely fixed in the transitional wardrobe. I have a wildly colourful cord jacket in the denim jacket style - abstract autumnal leaves on brown. 2 leather and one faux leather - none of them biker style. When it gets a bit colder, I wear a quilted biker jacket over a ribbed fine gauge jumper with wool mix wide leg trousers, perfect for something like evensong or a draughty concert hall/theatre.

I’ve just seen that suede jackets are back. I’ve got a brown 3/4 one I might wear if it still fits

Athena51 · 10/09/2024 09:53

I've done some seasonal wardrobe rearrangement and I'd forgotten to add a Saint and Sofia black jersey biker jacket and a flamboyant St Bert's forest green faux fur bomber jacket (I know that might sound horrible but honestly it's gorgeous, so soft and glam and it was half price so...)

Ooo that’s nice. It’s reminded me I have a faux suede thing in a similar style but collarless/round neck

I have a black oversized leather biker from H&M, and this leather jacket I got from Whistles last year which I LOVE:

Also short quilted jackets from Hush (khaki) and Cos (cream/stone). Winter coats I have loads of, but hoping not to be in them for a wee while!

I'm someone who leans toward comfort more than style, so my fave jacket is Free People dolman jacket. I love it because its so very cosy and feels so comforting to wear. Was expensive but cost per wear is very good and going strong.

If it rains I've got a really sturdy and practical hooded thick cotton jacket, a real workhorse. I don't much like shiny or synthetic material, so I look for thick cotton canvas. Obvs not waterproof but does the job for getting caught in showers.

Also have a dark blue wool slouchy oversized coat that is quite fine, so I think of it more as a jacket and more autumn than winter, that's a bit more stylish, I guess!

Newyorkersos · 11/09/2024 16:05

I have just done a very satisfying wardrobe clear out / audit and also bought a few new items. My transitional jackets are:

  • Beige trench coat (old Mango)
  • Cream quilted oversize jacket (new Uniqlo)
  • Mole coloured men's leather jacket oversized (new Zara men's) - not biker style, more classic straight zip
  • Pine green waterproof (old Lululemon)
  • Oversized denim jacket (old Topshop)
  • Charcoal grey suede biker jacket (Peacocks!! Dupe of the Pera Una £250 one)

Plus a grey and white check shacket

Long woolly coats and puffer at the ready for proper Winter if climate change permits

Tryonemoretime · 11/09/2024 22:32

I'd love a brown suede jacket, but do the ends of the sleeves get dirty easily and if so, how do you clean them?

I have a denim jacket from Oasis and a black denim All Saints jacket.
Beige oversized vintage wool longer length jacket.
Black Zara cape and a black & white faux fur from Barney’s- both from Vinted. I got the cape last year and have only worn it with shorter length dresses and ankle boots in the evening so far.
i have a Barbour waxed parka that I got 10 years ago from Harvey Nichols in the sale for £120.
Oasis navy parka with a faux fur lining, it’s so cosy.
All my other coats are for dog walking and riding- and not really presentable to wear in other situations - khaki Harka lightweight shooting jacket, black full length Equidry and I just got an awesome French army gortex jacket from an army surplus store. Always searching for the perfect waterproof and breathable coat!

Packetofcrispsplease · 15/09/2024 10:06

I have a lightweight Joules packable rain jacket ( got that in 2020 ) as got caught out in rain on holiday .
A FatFace raincoat with a hood which has a little bit of weight to it but not warm enough for winter ( got that 2 years ago )
A lightweight Happy Rainy Days hooded trench coat , M&S smart belted navy trench coat and a denim jacket just from Sainsbury’s ( all about 10 years ago they’re all fine )

southpawsofthenorth · 15/09/2024 10:53

I have an oversized denim jacket, a black denim jacket, a black waterproof lightweight parka, a quilted jacket with hood, a dog tooth tweed coat and that navy car coat from M&S.

keffie12 · 15/09/2024 11:08

2 leather jackets, from Joe Brown's and a J.B's casual hoodie zipped three quarter jacket in a thick stretch material which I love too much for comfort and easy. I've also got a couple of wraps

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 16/09/2024 14:06

I neeeeed a new jacket. Going for a weekend away and need something light but smart enough for going out at night.
