Rain coats

Hi, I'm looking for stylish yet functional raincoats.

Please no seasalt or similar recommendations as I think they look like unflattering sacks. I have a protected species one but find the collar quite huge, however it is fitting so I like that bit.

I am a petite size 8-10 so prefer something with a bit of shape, not sack like.

I did look at rainsisters recently and they are a bit Mary Poppins like to me. But the colours are really pretty.

Oh I love this, this is what I'm looking for. So feminine fitting and fits the bill. I love that it's reversible with just the right shade of each color. What size did you go for?

Sadly, I'm a bit bigger than you. 5'7" and usually a size 14 (M&S, Boden, Seasalt, etc). I'm about 11st 7lb. I bought a large which on the size charts is equivalent to a 16-18 but RL comes up on the snug/fitted side and as this is very much a rain mac, I wanted room for a jumper/fleece underneath and to be able to cinch the back in. If my shoulders were less broad I think I could have got away with an M.

It isn't an all weathers dog walking coat, it's a good cover-up for rainy days in spring and autumn and probably through the summer and is comfy to wear in the car. I'd happily wear it into town and into my local village.

I love this. Do you know how it would fit a 5'3 me?

I’m 5’4 and it’s perfect on me so will be good for you! It’s just below my knee. I do turn the cuffs back but they are designed to be worn long or turned back so it doesn’t look weird 😆

My M & S raincoat arrived and it’s great. Styling is rather similar to my Lululemon jacket

Just looked at the Rainsisters range and they are gorgeous , Never heard of them but now top of my Christmas list!
I have s Seasalt which is wonderful for rainy dog walks. I find other coats allow the rain to drip off the hem and soak my jeans or legs.

@Lorrymum I know this post’s from ages ago but in case you’re still after a rainsisters coat, they have a sale starting tomorrow!

I smell a rat with all of these rainsisters posts, fwiw.

canwestopwiththenameshaming · 08/06/2025 23:20

@comoatoupeiranot sure what you mean but I can assure you I’ve been a mumsnetter for years now and just also love my coat. So you may want to reassess your rat seeking methods as it’s not accurate here. I’m a wee housewife in Ayrshire so not exactly a rat but, eh, cheers 😂
