The perfect 'in between' loafers...

Justkoko · 03/09/2024 17:06

I am still searching for my perfect loafers. Had DM Adrian for a couple of years but they now seem a bit too clumpy and not quite smart enough somehow.
I've spent quite a long time searching for the perfect thing and still not sure.
Black leather, hi shine, but not patent.
A rounded or almond toe
Not super clumpy, but not super delicate either, in the middle.
A small detail like a snaffle in gold or silver.
Goes as well with a skirt and black opaque tights as it does trousers or jeans.
High ish vamp.
Not to shred the backs of your heels because the sole is so inflexible it flips off your foot as you walk.

If only there was an app where you could narrow styles down...too clumpy, too shiny, etc!

What are clarks like these days? Not bought from them in years. I also spotted some Steve Madden but no idea of quality or comfort for the price.

@donttellthem , let us know what the sizing is like. They look great.

@KirstenBlest I'm usually a size 5 but can be a 5.5 - I'm sure my feet have spread a little since wearing flat shoes almost all of the time. On the Lanx website they suggested going down a size for this particular shoe, so I've ordered a 4.5 and a 5. I'll let you know!

I'm perving over Russell & Bromley loafers a the moment, but they are a lot of money...

The fitflop ones aren't very appealing.

Well aren’t you charming

KirstenBlest · 11/09/2024 13:38

@MumEra2024 , thanks. I do try to be tactful.

If you like patent loafers, these are a bargain: Black Patent Tassel Loafer – NPS Solovair Outlet (nps-solovair.com)

Justkoko · 12/09/2024 15:51

So.. @donttellthem ... have you had your lanx shoes yet? I've gone down a total rabbit hole and these look like they would stand the test of time. I've also been reading Patrick Grant's book and it's really pushed me to want to buy better and for longer, and push any fast fashion firmly out of view. How was the sizing? I am a standard 5 generally but could be a 5.5 or a 4.5 depending on the shoes. Your description sounds like me.
The colours of the loafers are gorgeous and I'm only limiting myself because I know I'd want to wear them with black tights. The patent would go of course but I also like the black and pebble leather but not sure if you could wear with black opaque tights? And the khaki are gorgeous.

@Justkoko , get the black and khaki.

I wish😂
Would these be suitable with black tights though...🤔 I was thinking sheeny leather rather than shiny but could be persuaded to patent potentially. Depends how well it will wear.

I don't like patent usually but can see the appeal of the shiny Lanx ones. (I'd be like a big kid with nice new shiny shoes like that) . Maybe you could ask Lanx about durability or renovation.

With the link I gave for the Solovair ones, grab those immediately if you see what you want because the outlet stuff sells quickly. I don't like their vegan shoes. The factory seconds tend to be very good.

Not sure of your budget but I have these in tan and they are brilliant. Really lightweight and soft leather but sturdy and fit well. Have worn them lots. Might get the black for autumn/winter

Can you wear these with socks? And wide leg trousers?

I haven’t worn them with socks, but I’m a bit funny about socks on show anyway! I have worn them with wide leg jeans and think they look ok

@Justkoko thanks for asking, they came yesterday. I took some time working out which size to keep. I thought I was going to keep the 5, but after a lot of thinking I'm going to keep the 4.5. The 5 was a bit loose at the heel, and that would probably get worse over time. The 4.5 feel really comfortable. They are such a lovely shoe - the soles a bit bigger than I'd thought, but that's fine. They are leather lined and kind of padded at the sides and the heel. I agree about buying less but better. I think I'll buy boots in a couple of months. I went for patent - I think they'll work better with what I wear. Thinking straight black trousers, big white shirts/cashmere polo necks in the office and big jumpers, shortish a line/pleated skirts and merino wool tights (in any colour). They'll also be great with jeans and dresses.

@KirstenBlest Here's what I've decided, I'm going with the 4.5. I think when I get boots, I may order 5.5, it sounds like they vary depending on the style. They are a lovely shoe

Look at Moda In Pelle

Don't! Everything I have bought from them has been shit and they charge for returns. Dreadful company.

KirstenBlest · 13/09/2024 16:09

Thanks. The shoes look good but you need socks or something. Are you like me and want to be showing off the shoes? (Look! Look! They've got lights! stylee Smile)
Moda in Pelle is a bit 'TK Maxx" imo.

Totally disagree.
Best trainers I've ever had.. I now have 7 pairs.
Best boots too. Really comfy and fit my narrow feet.

KirstenBlest · 13/09/2024 16:29

Maybe they are good for narrow feet and I've probably got the brand mixed with another one.
