The perfect 'in between' loafers...

I am still searching for my perfect loafers. Had DM Adrian for a couple of years but they now seem a bit too clumpy and not quite smart enough somehow.
I've spent quite a long time searching for the perfect thing and still not sure.
Black leather, hi shine, but not patent.
A rounded or almond toe
Not super clumpy, but not super delicate either, in the middle.
A small detail like a snaffle in gold or silver.
Goes as well with a skirt and black opaque tights as it does trousers or jeans.
High ish vamp.
Not to shred the backs of your heels because the sole is so inflexible it flips off your foot as you walk.

If only there was an app where you could narrow styles down...too clumpy, too shiny, etc!

What are clarks like these days? Not bought from them in years. I also spotted some Steve Madden but no idea of quality or comfort for the price.

Ah heck. I've just realised. I think Grenson Nina (non chunky) may be the perfect ones. But they don't make them and they are far too expensive.

Anyone know of a dupe that's comfortable?

Attached is what I'd like but in a cheaper version!

https://www.camper.com/en_GB/women/shoes/walden/camper-walden-K201116-007 I’ve been eyeing these up but maybe too clumpy! Boden may have some snaffle loafers?

Ferretbitme · 03/09/2024 19:53

Not sure but following!

Garlictest · 03/09/2024 19:58

I've got these and they're the only shoes that always elicit a compliment (surprisingly!) https://www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350316090.aspx

They've got a selection of less chunky loafers, too.

@Peaceandquietandacuppa those boden ones look good, I wonder if they are good quality for the price?

@beetr00 I think the dune ones have a chunkier sole than I'm looking for but otherwise nice.

@Garlictest I love the hi shine leather, I was going to avoid a fringe for a change from my Adrian's but they are rather nice, are they comfy? Do they stay on well?
Part of the reason I want a high vamp is so that they don't slip off my heels, or so I don't end up gripping with my toes. More like a 'shoe' fit than a ballerina fit iyswim.
I'm also wary of some big brands in that bug prices doesn't always equal great quality.

I'm off down a la redoute rabbit hole....

Do they need to be a loafer? I have these and they are so flipping comfy. I wear them for work with dresses and trousers.

@JemOfAWoman I don't know what it is but I feel like lace ups don't suit me. Same with boots.

Look at Moda In Pelle

@Justkoko: they are rather nice, are they comfy? Do they stay on well?

They remind me of my old-timey Clark's school shoes! They feel sturdy, as mothers used to say. I've got moderately wide feet - not huge, but high arches and fairly wide across the ball. I have to use a shoe horn to put them on and they definitely prefer being worn with tights (or thin socks) but they are comfy and don't slip. They didn't need 'breaking in'. Have walked miles in them. I got my usual shoe size.

Russell and Bromley Chester loafers are brilliant x

bettyjane · 03/09/2024 23:27

Not sure of your budget but I have these in tan and they are brilliant. Really lightweight and soft leather but sturdy and fit well. Have worn them lots. Might get the black for autumn/winter

Take a look at "The Office of Angela Scott." They have several styles that might work.

This is the holy grail! Watching with interest.

MonkeysandParrots · 04/09/2024 13:38

have you considered Sam Edelman? I have these which, tbf, are out of stock on the SE site but perhaps could be tracked down elsewhere. Supremely comfortable, soft leather, really really nice.

No snaffle detail but I like the Clarks Hamble loafers. They come in black and tan leather and black patent leather.
