Lounge wear for 40 year old?

thismummydrinksgin · 24/08/2024 16:23

Hi so my 13 year old has lovely lounge wear - white fox!! If you know you know. What does a 40 year old wear that has similar vibes but not mutton dresses as lamb x

Not heard of the brand. Googled it. There's plenty of reasons I wouldn't wear it, but being 40, or 50 or in my case 65, isn't one of them.

If you like it , what's stopping you? The logos?

Mutton dressed as lamb is a horrible expression.

ScanTheNextOne · 24/08/2024 17:33

Wear what you like, if that is White Fox then wear White Fox. The expression mutton dressed as lamb should be banned.

When I was a child women in their 50s wore head scarves or if it rained those plastic rain hats. I am now 50, they are not for me. I learned growing up that everyone had an opinion on our clothes and tried to control us and put us down for our choices.

Honestly, look at people like Cate Blanchett, she is 55, do you see her wearing a plastic rain hat? No she wears beautiful clothes. Wear what you like and I say this as the daughter of a textile marketing Father who understood the insecurities of people and how they are swayed to spend more money because someone decided to stamp a name on it and someone else decided that was in "fashion".

Most of my loungewear is from Primark or Temu. They're all good quality and the price low.

Ftctvycdul · 24/08/2024 18:26

I buy my lounge wear from Hush and Colourful Standard

JennyfromtheBlok · 24/08/2024 18:27

Like primark for basic pyjamas / lounge wear type stuff.

Hollister has nice stuff for a bit more £.
not sure if I’m too old for Hollister at 41 😆 If it’s too young for you, go to M&S

DrPeculiar · 24/08/2024 18:28

I like BAM for this type of stuff. Respectable enough to open the door and invite someone in for a brew. Plus you could always pretend you’d been doing 🧘.

LiterallyOnFire · 24/08/2024 18:29

"Mutton dressed as lamb" is a revolting expression.

"If you know, you know" is just advertising your own twattishness for no reason,

I know what you mean, have you looked at lounge: https://lounge.com/collections/apparel this is good quality and a bit more grown up than white fox

Thank you, will have a look. 😊

Just googled White Fox expecting .... well i dunno !😂

It's just a load of generic big t-shirts, yoga style pants, sweat pants, tight shorts and hoodies. With WHITE FOX printed on them.

I don't get it. Primarni, Next, any sports shop - all sell the same stuff but without that particular logo, obvs. Why can't you wear it OP?

Could you link any that you recommend?

Laiste · 24/08/2024 18:45

Yeah Holister does come up small.

My 20 something DD has just given my average size 9 year old a S hoodie from there and it fits her!

impossiblesituations · 24/08/2024 18:46

White Fox is a complete uniform for 11-16 yr olds so I can understand OPs perspective. I wear all sorts of stuff teens also wear because I like it and have worn similar for years. However I could never wear White Fox. I would be embarrassed.

I find the sizing ok, generous in the wide legged stuff if anything. Some of my stuff from there is six years old and literally like new.

Hucklemuckle · 24/08/2024 18:56

If you know you know what?
I know white fox. It's a brand aimed at young girls. What's there to 'know'?

This is what I meant, I think it looks lovely on the teens x

Tescos always seem to have a really lovely collection of lounge wear , if there's a big tesco near you it's worth having a look

I'm 50'and I wear white fox and adanola .. I won't let Mysogonistic views of women stop me wearing what I want !

Primark do great tracksuits with no logo though and and marks and Spencer . I have some of all of them .

I hate real clothes unless I'm leaving the house !

kitchenhelprequired · 24/08/2024 19:27

www.stradivarius.com/gb/softtouch-palazzo-trousers-l08737276. The soft touch range is fab - so soft and washes really well.

samedifferent · 24/08/2024 19:41

I'm nearly 50 and like Abercrombie particularly the softAF range. Subtle and very comfy.
