I have posted before about my dry, over coloured, icky hair.

Have beel inspecting it this morning and I think that the natural bit is probably long enough for me to have the rest all cut off.

Haven't been to a hairdressers in years. Dp normally just hacks the lot off with the kitchen scissors (which doesn't really matter because I tend to just have it tied up anyway)

The bit of my hair that is not coloured is really, really dark brown (almost black) with grey streaks, with more grey at my left temple than anywhere else, and there is about three, four inches of it.

I have quite a round face that's not what you would call clasically pretty, with large sticky out ears which would need camouflaging.

I am quite large bodied as well (size 18ish)

Ideally I would like something that is easy to look after, stylish and fashionable.

Oh, I'm pushing 40 as well, so nothing too young-like.

I don't paint a very nice picture of myself, do I. I'm not that bad, honest

Oh, and how much do hairdressers cost nowadays?

it was furball

here

TillyScoutsmum · 17/04/2008 11:24

bob ? or bit boring ?

Costs me around £35 for cut/style and another £60-£70 for colour but I've just started to dye it myself to save money

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 17/04/2008 11:25

that's lovely, but it wouldn't get rid of all the coloured, dry stuff...

OP posts:
SquonkTheBeerGuru · 17/04/2008 11:26

The bob is ok, but I've had a bob before and I don't think they suit me.

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 17/04/2008 11:27

oh you want it all cut off

but maybe if a hairdresser dyed it with some of those aveda products it wouyldnt be so dry

i use charles worthington brilliant shien shampoo and conditioner and swim and dye and it works really well

TillyScoutsmum · 17/04/2008 11:27

zippitippitoes · 17/04/2008 11:27

nice if straight enough

zippitippitoes · 17/04/2008 11:33

twas the high maintenance that put me off

i think a lot of these styles need lots of attention and products and res tyling to keep them looking good thats why i decided i wasnt up for iut as very lazy and not beauty minded

are you good at keeping up squonk

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 17/04/2008 11:34

I like those two short ones.

I think I have uploaded a pic of me to my profile if you all want to have a nosey

(but don't be too harsh - not sure I could take it today )

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 17/04/2008 11:36

ive been nosey..i am no style guru tho

do you like it back off your face or is that just convenience

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 17/04/2008 11:37

convenience really.

I'm generally quite good at getting ready to go out iykwim. I don't tend to go to tescos until I've looked in a mirror - so a bit of maintenance wouldn't be a problem.

Dropdeadfred · 17/04/2008 11:40

Gorgeous Squonky this would suit you

Dropdeadfred · 17/04/2008 11:43

Don't go really short first...get a bob and if you still hate it cut it shorter!!!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 17/04/2008 11:51

that does look nice, fred.

(notice how looking at my pic has frightened everyone off )

OP posts:
Egg · 17/04/2008 11:55

Fred is spot on. It would look great that one. And easier to maintain I think than the other one you suggested.

I need new hair too.

zippitippitoes · 17/04/2008 11:56

i cant choose styles

i am an asker for hair advice not an advisor
