Hello,

So since the YSL Youth Liberator serum foundation has been discontinued (I think 🤔) I've been on the hunt for a decent substitute with not much luck - until now 😍

If, like me, you like a foundation with a medium/buildable coverage, with a dewy finish, Shiseido Revitalessence is your friend.

It's bloody gorgeous! It really leaves a beautiful sheen to the skin, but also gives a decent amount of coverage without feeling heavy. Plus it has SPF 30, which is always an added bonus.

It's also bloody expensive 😬 at around £50, but a little goes a long way. Had my eye on it for a while, but kept trying to find cheaper alternatives. In this case though, you do get what you pay for.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Over to you 😁

Garnier bb cream. Goes on very smooth and has skincare benefits. Makes skin look like velvet

FuckThePoPo · 19/08/2024 16:29

Estée Lauder daywear tinted moisturiser

in the summer I add a little liquid bronzer (nars laguna but I think that's been discontinued)

dermalogica special cleansing gel

hourglass bronzing palette and ambient powders

shwarzkopf brow colour

that bader rich cream that I got in the liberty calendar! Love it

clinique clarifying lotion (ok I have been using this no lie for 30 years) it's simply the best even if it's not as strong as it used to be

Maybelline matte ink superstay in pioneer - it does not budge

bumble bumble texturiser or the davines one

edited to say in the winter I add a little bronzer

Sali Hughes liquid exfoliant and face blanket oil

Erborian green cc cream. Everything by Erborian is outstanding.

Shiseido Eudenmine toner which I saw recommended by Hannah Martin, the make up artist on her socials. My skin just looks so much better after I started using it but is £££!!

Opposite end of the price spectrum - I've just discovered the Aldi Lacura dupe of the Bobbi Brown moisturising primer. It's so good for the price and minimises my huge pores!

Q&A salicylic acid body wash - so smoothing!

Feckinlego · 19/08/2024 16:47

Holos skincare anti aging facial oil is AMAZING! So nourishing and my lines are definitely reduced and my complexion is so much more even. Feels like such a treat to apply too.

Elf monochrome stick blush. Cheap and great!

I like Merit , foundation sticks and blush. They’re lovely

DancingNotDrowning · 19/08/2024 18:37

Elemis pro collegen marine moisturiser is fab and a little goes a long way

L’Oréal magic BB cream - picked it up at the airport as a cheap option to deal with my spray tanned face and it is AMAZING. Great coverage and really velvety smooth texture whilst still being dewy

Chanel lip and cheek balm - fabulous texture and build able colour

kerestase Bain divalany shampoo brings life to my fine hair

Marks and Spencer sleep and replenish cream makes my skin look glowy even with a hangover and four hours sleep

Pai rosehip oil to cleanse

Prai gold serum and cream

Different companies

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/08/2024 22:54

A couple of cheaper offerings from me. Wet and Wild eyeshadow primer is just as good as the Nars one I have used for years and about 1/10 of the price, and the Essence tubing mascara is the best one I have ever used (contact lens wearer who is a terrible smudger). It’s called something to do with “no panda eyes” and just doesn’t move unless you want it to.

Soozikinzii · 20/08/2024 00:15

Maybelline fit me dewy foundation for a bargain buy as good as some really expensive ones.Must be the dewy one though not the matt .
Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless finish for a treat .
Avon brow boost -very natural.

stayathomer · 20/08/2024 00:24

Catrice brow type thing- my mum was going on about a new one she got and told me to try it- nearly cried with happiness when I saw it was catrice and so I could afford it!! Also hask hair oil and Nars creamy concealer

My recommendation is actually a website - directcosmetics.com

It's like TKMaxx just for beauty stuff. I've got 5 different Jean Patou perfumes, which cost me £25 each, Elizabeth Arden serums for a fraction of RRP, Elemis, Bourjois, Opi.... just tonnes of great stuff for way cheaper than high st cost!

I love it, I can try out a new lipstick colour or whatever without breaking the bank.

I am also on the search that minimises pores (especially on the skin above my top lip) so will definitely try the Aldi dupe. The Ordinary exfoliating toner is also very smoothing.

Nivea Creme, the one in the blue tub. I've heard people say how good it is for years but have always dismissed the idea thinking it was too thick. However after reading a review saying it had the same basic ingredients as le mer I thought I'd give it a go. I use it over my tret at night and it's been a revelation. My skin looks and feels great. It's so much more effective than any of the expensive big name night moisturisers I've wasted my money on and it's about 3.50 for a huge tub. It's also completely eradicated my sebaceous filaments which is a massive bonus. Skin looks plump and clear.

Rare Beauty eye shadow sticks. Beautiful colour pigmentation, glide on easily and stay put all day with no creasing. Best eyeshadow stick I've tried.

Q&A salicylic acid body wash - so smoothing

I discovered Q&A a couple of years ago in a beauty calendar. Their serums are fantastic value for money. Will try this body wash!

I get very excited about JVN instant recovery serum for hair. The best smoothing anti frizz serum I’ve ever tried. I’ve always had coarse, frizzy hair that goes wild in this humidity. Leaves my hair feeling like someone else’s!!

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 20/08/2024 08:01

Elf Lash n Roll mascara. Cheap, doesn’t clump and makes eyelashes look fabulous.

Blingu · 20/08/2024 08:02

Murad oil free sunscreen - pricey about £33 for a smallish tube but on my oily mug it does actually stay mat and can be added too. It’s lovely and more effective than the water gel ones which I also like. I have tried all the others that are commonly recommended and the next best but much cheaper is the Vichy one. Both are decent primers too.

Also Lily LoLo blush and correction powders. Cheapish, vegan, British and excellent

CatJ21 · 20/08/2024 08:11

Tropic sun drops. Haven’t had to wear as much makeup since using these. Just a couple of drops mixed into your usual moisturiser and it develops a nice glow. No biscuity smell either

£28 for 100ml on cult beauty. Expensive but 100% worth it IMO. you can also get a travel
size for £12 to try.
