Hello,

So since the YSL Youth Liberator serum foundation has been discontinued (I think 🤔) I've been on the hunt for a decent substitute with not much luck - until now 😍

If, like me, you like a foundation with a medium/buildable coverage, with a dewy finish, Shiseido Revitalessence is your friend.

It's bloody gorgeous! It really leaves a beautiful sheen to the skin, but also gives a decent amount of coverage without feeling heavy. Plus it has SPF 30, which is always an added bonus.

It's also bloody expensive 😬 at around £50, but a little goes a long way. Had my eye on it for a while, but kept trying to find cheaper alternatives. In this case though, you do get what you pay for.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Over to you 😁

Altruist Fluid SPF, as good as more expensive facial SPFs

Smells amazing and is very gentle to sensitive skin

Dr Hauskha facial toner. Really noticed a difference and makes my skin feel smooth.

Nivea hand cream with beeswax. Like it because it's non greasy and rubs into my skin with no residue at all.

No7 the full 360 waterproof mascara, I'm so glad I found this. I had been using a loreal one that claimed to be waterproof but gave me panda eyes during the heatwave. The no7 one has stayed on my lashes, and it has an amazing false lash effect too, really enhances them. This one will be my new go to!

Elf no budge shadow stick. It really doesn't budge, and if you choose the right shade for your eye colour it really makes your eyes pop!

Elf power grip primer with niacinimide (?) Really good if you're an oily skin sufferer like me. Your makeup stays on even in heatwave weather.

Blingu · 20/08/2024 13:36

That mascara is mine too - love it!

Garnier bb cream. Goes on very smooth and has skincare benefits. Makes skin look like velvet

I second this, bought some on a whim as it was on offer and it makes my skin look so much smoother and really tones down the slight redness. I would buy it again which is not something I say often

Elf halo glow. Prefer it to the CT flawless filter & it’s much cheaper.

L’oreal Elvive hair serum. I used to use the Kerastase serum but it’s so expensive. I switched to the L’Oréal one & was pleasantly surprised. It’s done wonders for my hair, it seems to work instantly too, which the other one didn’t.

Nyx butter glosses. After using all sorts of glosses (cheap & expensive) over the years, I’ve come to realise they all do the same thing, there really isn’t much difference. I just like the Nyx colour selection (lots of nice nude colours) & often get 3 for 2 when on offer.

On the hair front:

Colorwow products for volumising, loving the Raise the Root blow dry spray and Style on Steroids.

Also Sam McKnight shampoos.

And on the makeup front I just love all the Lisa Eldridge lip products! All seem so moisturising while having great colour.

(And a SpaceNK Limitless Delivery pass for a tenner to get next day delivery for a year on all of the above 😂)

Raise the Root Thicken and Lift Spray

This root lifting spray instantly adds volume for bigger, fuller hair. Never sticky or stiff & offers heat protection too. Shop Color Wow Raise The Root here.

I like Merit , foundation sticks and blush. They’re lovely

Totally agree. The Merit range is terrific. The foundation/concealer stick melts fabulously into the complexion with just the right level of subtle but "there" coverage for me. The blending brush works really well and smoothes foundation, blusher and any highlighter into a very chic finish.

This leave in conditioner spray. I've spent a fortune over the years on conditioner and sprays and this is a game changer for my fine flyaway hair. I don't even condition my hair in the shower now. Just a few squirts of this and brush from the bottom, no tangles. Amazing stuff and so cheap! https://www.sephora.co.uk/p/John-Frieda-Frizz-Ease-Daily-Miracle-Treatment-200ml?curr=GBPcurr=GBP&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_ZC2BhAQEiwAXSgClh25c4Rn4Q6Gqu4jz_Z6HjTesVc3vxAz1f335xI2De1YFbskG7gznBoCoqQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

MARY & MAY Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream
This eye cream has made a noticeable difference to my under eye darkness, the first cream to do this. It's not hugely moisturising but has definitely helped brighten the area. Really cheap too, and you can get a mini size that is still lasting me after a few months use twice daily.

Laneige lip sleeping mask. I like it so much I have bought it as a gift for 3 friends.

This from Sainsbury's. Bloody brilliant for day two volume.

I have just discovered Chanel CC cream. Pricey but bloody good.

Champo shampoo / conditioner / serum

For anyone in menopause losing their hair 😫😫😫this is like the holy grail. I was sceptical after a friend told me about it, but it really makes a difference and it makes a difference fast. It slows down the hair shedding after only a few weeks.

biedrona · 20/08/2024 19:40

I also like this foundation. Have you tried the primer?

I'd love to love it but found the scent overpowering - due to migraines I had to leave it on shelf.

Tried loads of products and this is the only thing to tame my thick, wavy, hagrid hair, even in humidity. I tell everyone about it and it only needs to be applied every 3ish washes-

The new Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Foundation stick - applies in seconds, no need for a mirror, and makes you look airbrushed!

YourFluentCrab · 21/08/2024 20:29

Cosrx skincare, especially the aha/bha vitamin c daily toner. I have extremely picky skin and it's the only brand I've never reacted to

Coughsweet · 21/08/2024 20:36

Have switched back to cheaper stuff, the big companies have the big research budgets. I did an experiment with two Sunday Riley sets and it made bugger all difference. Swapped my Aesops body oil for Palmer cocoa butter stuff and is just as good, applying to wet skin is the primary thing.
