Have you worn all your summer clothes this year?

I bought a few new things about six months ago and haven’t managed to wear them yet this summer as it always seems to be raining! I bought two skirts and a jersey jumpsuit from Hush which are still unworn. I’ve got a pair of culottes and put them on yesterday but it started raining just as I was going out so I changed into a jumper and jeggings. Now I’m in the market for a light jacket I can wear in the rain 😐 I’m not sure how much summer is left now. I’m sure it was a bit darker last night!

Have you managed to wear your summer clothes much this year? Maybe you are going on holiday which I am sadly not!

No I have not! It's been too chilly most of the time. It's raining again now as I type this. No holidays here so I guess my clothes will stay put until it warms up, hopefully sometime in August/September!

Lentilweaver · 25/07/2024 08:36

nope. Even in London. Been wearing my raincoat mostly.

Comedycook · 25/07/2024 08:36

No, hardly anything! My sister remarked the other day, that as we didn't have a particularly cold winter and are now having a rubbish summer, we've basically been wearing the same clothes from october to now!

nicky2512 · 25/07/2024 08:36

No! I always struggle to get trousers that fit well and I was so happy this year to have got four pairs of light summer trousers.
I have only worn two of them. It’s been so damp and miserable here most of the time that I’ve just stayed in my jeans.

Rainbowsponge · 25/07/2024 08:36

No. There’s been less than 10 days where I have worn shorts or a maxi dress. Very mostly I’m in jeans and long sleeve t shirts. It’s shite

BigDahliaFan · 25/07/2024 08:37

Nope. Don’t any of them will come out. North west.

YorkshireTeaBiscuits · 25/07/2024 08:38

I haven't bought any summer clothes but will buy a few dresses for when I go to Egypt in October.

WeRateSquirrels · 25/07/2024 08:39

Yes, although some of them only once or twice. And yes, it's getting darker, we're well past the longest day.

ComealongMartha · 25/07/2024 08:42

I have worn my little summer dresses in the rain with my wellies and raincoat because I am determined to wear them 😂

Although to be honest, I’ve not lost the weight that I wanted so I’m looking on the bright side, I can hide under my coat a bit.

mondaytosunday · 25/07/2024 08:58

Weather here (London) has been pretty good! In fact too hot some days (31)! What little rain there has been has been the kind where you don't even bother to come inside. May get done today but the next ten days is sunny to partly cloudy temps 24/25/26. That's summer weather!

StarlightLady · 25/07/2024 09:51

I’ve worn most, but probably more with a cardigan or jacket than usual. Some l’ve forgotten about and are still at the back of the wardrobe, the odd thing l’ve slipped on but they seem to have shrunk 😀!

l tend to live in dresses though (l even have older designated “gardening dresses”) and hardly worn jeans or trousers since early April.

Drearymotherhubbard · 25/07/2024 09:54

No not me. I bought some new shorts as I don’t usually wear shorts (was trying to be brave and get my legs out!). I haven’t worn them
once.

I bought a nice new raincoat for the Autumn / Winter in the sale and have worn it everyday!!

I get awful SAD in October time and I’m feeling low today. I swear it’s lack of sunlight :(

Cantonet · 25/07/2024 10:30

No.
Only over 1 week in Mallorca & less than 5 days in the UK. The midlands has been mostly cloudy, wet & muggy or cold.
I've been living in jeans & black linen trousers. Even beige linen feels not appropriate for this weather.

Plump82 · 25/07/2024 10:49

Nope. I bought some lovely new dresses in the hope of getting to wear them for a long weekend abroad we're going on tomorrow as I knew I wouldn't get a chance to wear them here and the weather over there is crap as well! I feel I might have jinxed it.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/07/2024 10:56

No. I’m in Scotland and the summer dresses I un-vacuum-packed in May are mainly hanging in the spare room, waiting to be vacuum packed away again unworn.

JudgeBurrito · 25/07/2024 11:08

I've worn some (e.g. black cotton midi dresses, sandals with my jeans), and I'm also in Scotland. I think you just need to decide to wear them and commit, it's been relatively warm this month so I've worn them at times, even if I had a raincoat in my bag just in case. No doubt it's been a miserable summer though, there have been very few days where I've needed to wear light clothes.

YouSayChorizoIsayChorizo · 25/07/2024 13:53

Depressing isn't it! Though I think we're in for a few warm days in the south east.

I hope we don't have one of those lingering warm autumns where it's still mild on Bonfire Night and everything's out of whack.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 25/07/2024 15:57

I've had a few occasions when I've worn shorts but I haven't worn any sun dresses this year. I've got one dress which is very loose and floaty and always comes out if it's really hot and a couple which I would consider day wear for holidays (one bought last year, one new this year) and they will be in my suitcase when I go to Croatia in September.

Tisfortired · 25/07/2024 16:01

Only on holiday last month - they have been packed away since!

PragmaticDramatic · 25/07/2024 17:08

Denim shorts ✔️
Sandals ✔️
Summer dresses✔️
Short sleeve tops ✔️

Precipice · 25/07/2024 17:12

Not all, but I've reworn some. Probably in terms of number of days to clothes, I could have worn all, but I don't wear them all the same amount.

CointreauVersial · 25/07/2024 17:13

Nope. One or two brief outings this year for the high summer stuff, but that's it until we go to Spain in September, I reckon.

One thing I need to do more of is laying - i.e. wearing a shirt over a strappy dress. That would allow me to wear them when it's not actually sunny. Although, to be honest, it's so damned chilly right now I can't even imagine having my legs out under a dress. It's trousers/jeans all the way.

LiterallyOnFire · 25/07/2024 17:13

I've worn quite a few of my comfy cotton sundresses sitting indoors with fans trained on me. Some 7/8 jeans. That's about it.

Kitkat1523 · 25/07/2024 17:29

Yes….been away twice….haven’t bought any new summer stuff this year though

FartingAgainstThunder · 25/07/2024 17:31

For the first time in ages I have beautiful, coordinated and new summer outfits waiting in my wardrobe.
It's pissed down all summer.
I've worn two maxi dresses and that's only because I went to London a couple of weeks ago and it was gorgeous there!
(Comparatively speaking, the Londoners were freezing, us Scots were melting)

Going to Brighton for the second week in August, hoping some of my outfits might see daylight.
