I wear wideleg trousers/jeans with either long sleeve tee or vest dep on weather then a tie front cardi over, plus big necklace.
Have a few cord jackets that come out a lot at this time of year too.
Today i've got green tunic knit from boden with black trousers and black boots plus green/gold necklace. Will swap black trousers for linen trousers once weather warms up!

newgirl · 11/04/2008 14:00

do yoou wnat to stick with jeans?

newgirl · 11/04/2008 14:08

i think jeans is realistic. nice tops to go over would be good - are tunics nice or frumpy? cardis?

i have thin summer skirts but am not quite ready to go bare legged of course, but long boots seems very wintery

luvaduck · 11/04/2008 14:33

ok lets see if i can do links

how about this
mail order

nailpolish · 11/04/2008 14:35

steer away from the t shirt and youll be ok

look for tops with buttons (ie shirts!) and detail

something like these are nice with jeans if you like flats

do you like wedges etc? for a change or do you prefer flats

luvaduck · 11/04/2008 14:40

ok finally worked it out
or
white stuff

another one

KEW does smart-cas stuff bright colours - cheaper than jigsaw (but similar) or boden

luvaduck · 11/04/2008 14:41

silent terror where do you get your big necklaces from? always on the lookout

Anna8888 · 11/04/2008 15:43

Today I've got on white skinny jeans (Gap, last summer), a pink and white striped Jigsaw smocked top and red Converse. And when I go out I'll put on a bright pink thin sweater thing (also Jigsaw) and a black Napaijri thin waterproof jacket.

or this:
pretty top

I've got a couple of these in different colours

simple top

or this on it's own (depending on the weather) or over sklinny jeans.

dress

cardy · 11/04/2008 16:30

These?

linen trousers

I don't always shop at Topshop but you could do an on-line shop and order lots at once.

silver73 · 11/04/2008 16:40

I saw a woman in the dentist today. She looked absolutely fab. She had jeans with a really flattering cut and a knitted short jacket in lime green and flat shoes.

I would love to get a couple of pairs of really flattering jeans and have some well fitting jackets to got with a fab bag..

newgirl · 11/04/2008 16:40

ooohh im getting very excited - i love the glittery pumps i can imagine wearing those a lot

i love the peter pan collar top from top shop and the spotty one - i would wear it with a black cardy - ok not super brave but realistic

im not sure about the smarter trousers although i can imagine them with a plain white t shirt and pumps being not so smart - i think i need to try some - i think if i was going in to town for a coffee i might wear them - im not sure if people would think i was going for an interview - do you wear them?

i like the shirred long top too - i wonder what it feels like - i like the fact that it is long

flipping marvellous you lot

where can you find jeans with a flattering cut? they all seem to be skinny jeans these days - not great if you've got large thighs!

nailpolish · 11/04/2008 17:42

i wear my non-jean trousers if im meeting friends after school with the children - like a normal school day but actually with adult company iywswim! i do wear jeans most of the time but i get fed up of them tbh

nailpolish · 11/04/2008 17:42

luvaduck i think next has good jeans

newgirl · 11/04/2008 18:26

french connection sometimes has nice jeans as long as you dont dare to go over a size 14

tops are a bit wacky imo

SilentTerror · 11/04/2008 18:47

Sorry Luvaduck just seen your question!
Have got loads from Wallis, some from Marks,Topshop,Principles,Accessorize.
I always check out little craft type shops, especially on holiday,as they have unusual things.
East or Mint are great but more expensive.

luvaduck · 11/04/2008 18:56

thanks! hijack over
will look for other ideas newgirl
whats your fave shop?

janeite · 11/04/2008 21:18

Good thread. I love the long Topshop shirt and the little pumps. I used to find Gap good for jeans but they seem to have changed the way they size them and it's all got confusing; Principles are quite good for littlies like me but they don't wear as well as Gap.

I don't do the school run and never have (dp is the "carer" and I've always worked full time) but I'm trying to get a sort of weekend-ish capsual wardrobe, so I hope you'll allow me into the conversation!

I like: boot leg, dark coloured jeans worn with a v neck or wrap top (at the mo, cashmere jumpers as it's still so cold) and a little jacket plus a pashmina. My jacket is like a blazer but quite funky, with different textures of black fabric and a bright purple lining. I also have a grey, very fitted blazer, which looks quite nice with jeans.

What constitutes a "fab bag" for spring then Silver? Bags and shoes are the things I hate buying and never seem to get right even when I do buy!
