Liz Earle Hot Cloth cleanser - spots!!

Eek! So I invested in some of this as my skin was feeling dull (and it was on offer in Boots!).

Been using it about 5 days and I've broken out in a small number of teenage spots (might be a small number but they're painful, plus filled and in painful places like near my lower lip).

Is this my skin purging? Will it settle down? Or is this a sign it just doesn't suit my skin.

I'm late 40s with skin on the drier side, a little sensitive but nothing too awful.

Cleanse and Polish was great until Liz Earle sold the business, I used it for many years. Someone must have changed the formula around this time as my skin suddenly started having the same reaction as yours, coupled with angry red blotches. I persevered for a couple of weeks but had to give up on it.

I used to use it but then discovered Superdrug's version (thanks to MN) which I much prefer and it's loads cheaper. Smells nicer too since they changed the Liz Earle one.

Oh nooo!

I've only just started spending money on myself again after years of it all going on the kids.

Superdrug next it is!

Honestly it's just as good and they quite often have a two for one deal on

I noticed a post in the "Similar Threads" section on this page, it's not just us IonaFiona.

my skin hated this stuff.

I tried this years ago and within days my skin broke out in a huge number of very sore whiteheads. It was awful and I gave up after a couple of weeks as the spots kept on coming, and I wasn’t buying it that my skin was ‘purging.’

Im another who used to swear by Liz Earle but another whos skin started to react and another who now uses Superdrugs cleansers. I chop and change within the Superdrug range tbh - whatever is on special offer, right now Im using the Naturally Radiant Cleansing foam which my skin really likes, no dryness at all

Yeah, same happened to me. I tried a few alternatives and found Clinique Take the Day off balm suited me and that's all I've used since.

I cannot use the original not sure if it’s the eucalyptus but the milder special editions were fine. I would return it for a refund I believe they have changed ingredient’s I also think the newer cloths are too harsh.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 04/07/2024 23:02

People recommend the Inkey List oat cleansing balm so I also bought some of that from Boots recently, but I've been too scared to try it, my skin is so sensitive. But the Clinique is so expensive.....might give it a shot. I've realised though many years of believing crap online about "purging" that any reaction at all means I should just stop, not persevere.

Yes, I think it smells far too strongly of eucalyptus now. Greedy bloody corporations peddling shite.
