Hi all, I'm getting married next year and am looking for a very specific style of dress-any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wants:

Empire line
Flowy, long skirt
Bishop sleeves
V or sweetheart neck
NOT white
Can be either a day dress style or more formal (it's a registry office elopement)
Happy to spend up to £500
Something swishy and romantic

Me:

5ft6
Size 16
Late 30s
Mediterranean complexion
I love darker colours, especially jewel tones
Not a fan of a lot of patterns
I will be wearing flat shoes
Wedding will be in late spring

My searches are not bringing up anything! Help!

Have you looked at Monsoon, Debenhams , Next and Oasis?

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 13/06/2024 15:54

Can you draw it for us? 😃

MoiraPose · 13/06/2024 15:57

@blackrabbitwhiterabbit haha funnily enough I actually tried on a wedding dress that has all these elements and I fell in love with it but I don't want a wedding dress 😂 I did take a photo though...dare I post it?!

@Bignanna I have but haven't found anything! And so many places online just look dodgy and Shein just keeps coming up!

I have seen an amazing wedding dress shop maker on Tik Tok that literally ticks all your boxes, I think based in Manchester, I will see if I can find it...

MoiraPose · 13/06/2024 16:01

Okay, here it is! All of this but not a wedding dress and a little less formal!

Actually scrap that, it seems to be American. I'm sure I saw an English version though

MoiraPose · 13/06/2024 16:03

@longdistanceclaraclara I've seen those and they are beautiful but yes, American unfortunately! Call me old fashioned but there just doesn't seem to be any formal gown shops anymore-where do people buy nice dresses these days?

The dress in the photo isn’t empire line - do you want empire line or like the dress in the photo?

MoiraPose · 13/06/2024 16:07

@15cm oh is it not? What would you say it was? A-line?

Wolf and badger, Hope and Ivy, Silk Fred, Frock and Frill?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/06/2024 16:09

Bishop sleeves and empire line sounds a bit Maid Marion-y. Anything here medieval dresses?

Black?

Bignanna · 13/06/2024 16:09

longdistanceclaraclara · 13/06/2024 16:00

Beautiful, prices much higher than what OP wants to pay!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 13/06/2024 16:11

Jigsaw

blameitonthesunshine · 13/06/2024 16:15

What about needle and thread?

bravotango · 13/06/2024 16:17

Find yourself a local dressmaker and order the fabric yourself - I basically had the same dress as you and mine was £450 plus the cost of the fabric

I love the Disturbia one but I need it to be floor length - the sleeves are perfect though!

Let us know which one you choose!

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 13/06/2024 16:23

Google veni infantino and you’ll find stockists of their dresses there. Size up definitely. I tried the attached for similar ceremony but was too pale but applied for choice.

Christ0nABike · 13/06/2024 16:23

Or… find a dressmaker who can add sleeves to any dress. That should give you more to choose from in terms of shape and fabric of the main dress. Anything is possible these days!
