Hi all, I'm getting married next year and am looking for a very specific style of dress-any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wants:

Empire line
Flowy, long skirt
Bishop sleeves
V or sweetheart neck
NOT white
Can be either a day dress style or more formal (it's a registry office elopement)
Happy to spend up to £500
Something swishy and romantic

Me:

5ft6
Size 16
Late 30s
Mediterranean complexion
I love darker colours, especially jewel tones
Not a fan of a lot of patterns
I will be wearing flat shoes
Wedding will be in late spring

My searches are not bringing up anything! Help!

Definitely find a local dressmaker - but ask for recommendations first. Have a look at patterns online - you'll probably need to look under fancy dress, but don't let that put you off! I made my husbands wedding shirt to go with his kilt as he wanted a casual look - bought a pirate shirt pattern and made it in raw silk - it looked amazing!

Thanks all for all your suggestions, I'm working through them now. I want to have a formal and a not so formal option ready to go as we haven't yet decided how formal we'd like it to be. I must say the Needle and Thread dresses are winning so far for the formal option!

@Mostlyoblivious oh thank you! I really did like that dress but it is too bridal for me-if I could have that exact style but less poofy and in a different colour I'd be sold!

Okay, here it is! All of this but not a wedding dress and a little less formal!

Could you dye it purple or forest green?

Have you thought about having one made for you? The style you describe is exactly what somewhere like The Emperor's Old Clothes make - you can either bring your own fabric or see what they have in stock already.

@blackrabbitwhiterabbit haha funnily enough I actually tried on a wedding dress that has all these elements and I fell in love with it but I don't want a wedding dress 😂 I did take a photo though...dare I post it?!

Could you buy it and get it dyed?
