I want to buy a t-shirt

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy an adequately nice t-shirt? I'm going on holiday soon, and I'd like to get a couple of t-shirts, subject to the following conditions:

. Normal, regular round-neck with normal sleeves. No ruffles, bows or fancy sleeves. Just the kind of t-shirt you would draw if someone asked you to draw a t-shirt.

. Regular cotton or poly cotton fabric; something that won't die in a 40° wash.

. Not totally plain. I have a few plain t-shirts, and now I'd like a couple of non-plain ones. Some sort of little motif on the front, maybe, like a heart or a rainbow or "happy" or something slightly naff but nice.

. No florals or band logos.

. £20 or less.

Where do I go? Usually Next have lots of things that fit these conditions, but this year it all seems to be florals or bands. H&M don't seem to have any t-shirts at all. Supermarkets don't seem to have any either. Tried a couple of online places, but by the time I added postage, it worked out at about £30 per t-shirt. I didn't expect this to be a difficult task. I see people wearing t-shirts like this, so they must be out there somewhere.

Does anyone know of any high street shops that have a good range? Or anything online that I could look at?

I saw some in Sainsbury’s (Tu) last weekend.

M&S, Next, New Look. If you’re plus size- Yours.

Cos do nice t-shirts but plain and around the £30 mark.

Maybe try Monki if you want something a bit quirky and affordable and the Everpress website is very fun.

Betty Bramble would fit the bill.

Warning: might take up to a fortnight to arrive cos made to order or something.

I also saw some in Sainsbury’s, TU clothing, I have bought one and the fabric seems OK

Poundland (shocking, I know!).
I live in their £2.50 t shirts. Nice basic shape, wash well and have a variety of low key patterns and logos.

Rapanui
Cotton with some decent motifs.

Thanks so much! Our local Sainsburys didn't have a great selection, but I'd forgotten that the online options are often better! Would never have thought of Bon Marche, and had forgotten New Look!

Springwatch123 · 09/06/2024 18:20

Crew clothing company T-shirts ?

One of my favourite T-shirts is from Bon Marche - it’s lasted really well.

I always recommend Matalan 'Perfect Tee'. So flattering on, wash great and keep their shape ( I have had one particular one I wear around the house that has to be 15 years old!
At £6 they are a bargain, I am usually a size 12 but I do buy size 14 as I find it looks better on.

God damn it! I've just checked their website for the price, and seen a couple ( several) I quite fancy, but don't need.

Oh the long sleeve tees, are equally as fantastic as well.

Tkmaxx can be a treasure trove for nice not over the top t-shirts if you are willing to look. I get most of mine from there.

Uniqlo. Some are heavier cotton than others but the quality is good and they do a series of different designs that's always changing. They often have pop art artists shirts - I recently bought the Warhol embroidered soup can t-shirt and it's excellent value.

Community Clothing are fab for basics.
