I want to buy a t-shirt

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy an adequately nice t-shirt? I'm going on holiday soon, and I'd like to get a couple of t-shirts, subject to the following conditions:

. Normal, regular round-neck with normal sleeves. No ruffles, bows or fancy sleeves. Just the kind of t-shirt you would draw if someone asked you to draw a t-shirt.

. Regular cotton or poly cotton fabric; something that won't die in a 40° wash.

. Not totally plain. I have a few plain t-shirts, and now I'd like a couple of non-plain ones. Some sort of little motif on the front, maybe, like a heart or a rainbow or "happy" or something slightly naff but nice.

. No florals or band logos.

. £20 or less.

Where do I go? Usually Next have lots of things that fit these conditions, but this year it all seems to be florals or bands. H&M don't seem to have any t-shirts at all. Supermarkets don't seem to have any either. Tried a couple of online places, but by the time I added postage, it worked out at about £30 per t-shirt. I didn't expect this to be a difficult task. I see people wearing t-shirts like this, so they must be out there somewhere.

Does anyone know of any high street shops that have a good range? Or anything online that I could look at?

Poundland (shocking, I know!).
I live in their £2.50 t shirts. Nice basic shape, wash well and have a variety of low key patterns and logos.

I got a pair of shorts from there on Saturday, £6.

Cannot believe how good they look!

Going to go back for another, different colour Grin

I like spark company, but £25

Mrbay · 09/06/2024 22:05

Sugarhill's tshirts are lush and have nice patterns

Matalan

Bon Marche definitely, their T shirts are twice as thick and better value than M&S offerings and slightly longer so no gap in between waist and bottom half .
They was well and are less than a tenner .
I used to wear them for work and had a couple for a least a year washing three times a week .

I got some plain ones in Primark last week for £3 each! Cotton, nice V neck, though they did round neck too, along with striped ones. I'm sure I saw some decorated ones but I wasn't really looking at those.

If you're prepared to rake through rails I second the TKMaxx suggestion. I've picked up loads of good quality well made Ts from Boden, Benetton etc all of which wash really well.

Wears My Money did a post on graphic print t-shirts recently - worth a look?

Sorry, off topic but how come Poundland is now selling stuff for £6? 😅

I’ve recently tried loads on, really struggled this year to find something that wasn’t boxy and made me look plump!
I found
-Tesco £7 linen mix t-shirt was fine
-Seasalt 2 for £45 were amazing
-fatface ok
-Morrisons relaxed fit cotton t-shirt

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 12/06/2024 08:17

I’ve got a really nice one which is striped and am sure is a Danish brand, will try to find details later. It’s white with lighter pink stripes but the quality is very good. They do other colour ways too.

The Tu ones are good, have got black and navy with white stripes, Zara are good for eg varsity type ones - got a green one recently.

I like Allsaints t shirts. Or Religion, though the latter's sizes are inconsistent.

BashfulClam · 16/06/2024 13:18

Next do have them, search tops the scroll down to multipacks…

Also try Dorothy Perkins as they still have an online presence.

I think OP will have been wearing her new t-shirts for 8 or 9 months now...
Or are you advertising? Tsk tsk.

Chemenger · 04/02/2025 09:51

Rapanui - well made and sustainable. Not cheap as chips but not outrageously expensive.

GettingStuffed · 04/02/2025 11:45

Rapanui. I'm impressed with the quality for the price.
