Silver trainers - yay or nay?

Am bored of my white trainers and they are looking a bit tired after a couple of years wear. Thinking about some silver ones for a change - but are they a bit ‘cruise’ wear? Have seen some nice ones in Russell and Bromley and Air and Grace with a bit of a platform - I’m short so need all the height I can get!

I love mine! Was a bit unsure about them at first and didn’t wear them much for the first few months but now they’re a wardrobe staple - they go with almost everything and add a nice bit of edge + depth on to outfits. Metallic trainers are bang on trend

skippy67 · 04/06/2024 08:49

Personally, I wouldn't. Don't like them. Cruisewear is spot on.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/06/2024 09:55

Love mine!

I think a metallic trainer is a really fun way to add pep into an outfit. I would go for gold personally but thats because i wear more gold than silver.

I once avoided clarks like the plague but they're really sorted themselves out, style wise. love these https://www.clarks.com/en-gb/mayhill-walk/26176440-p

I love my silver trainers, I think what you’re wearing with them makes a big difference as to whether they look up to date, wear mine loads.

Ooh, those look fab! Are they comfortable to walk in?

Youdontevengohere · 04/06/2024 10:43

I think they are really hideous.

i haven't tried those specific ones but i find all their shoes comfy- as long as the width works for you (i have wide feet)

LlynTegid · 04/06/2024 10:53

No in my case. Shine would go off too quickly.

BestIsWest · 04/06/2024 18:19

Looks at feet 😂. Yes from me.

Iamblossom · 04/06/2024 18:30

I love mine, river island

Moomin37 · 04/06/2024 18:31

I have some New Balance ones that I wear with gym kit.

gingercat02 · 04/06/2024 18:35

I have metallic Sugerga's they are very pale purple and I love them

Mercurial123 · 05/06/2024 04:18

Definite no.

StarlightLady · 05/06/2024 07:25

It’s a yay from me.

SheilaFentiman · 05/06/2024 08:06

I like them

WakingAt2am · 05/06/2024 08:30

Oooh mixed responses. Still not sure! I do think they look good, but can I get over the cruise wear association 😂? Do love a bit of metallic though… maybe with just a hint of silver rather than full on? Or is that worse?

I have silver NIke AF1's, which I think helps them look less cruise wear, as they are a sports brand.

Go for the full monty!

Blacknailer · 05/06/2024 09:34

I love mine, from fitflop. Not sure what cruise wear is! What is it?

ilovesushi · 05/06/2024 10:03

Love a silver trainer. Or a gold one. Go for it.

LoobyDoop2 · 05/06/2024 10:05

I have some, but they work better in winter than summer.

LaRevolution · 05/06/2024 10:06

I have some ancient pewter Supergas that I've worn a lot - not necessarily regularly, but they've been very useful here and there over the yeas, IYSWIM!

My most useful "summer" trainers at the mo are some cream suede Pumas with gumsole - I think they're Puma Club - unbelievably comfy and they were cheap!

GoldDuster · 05/06/2024 10:13

I think that they are probably cruisewear/funky gran territory (which might be fine, you could be a funky gran!) depending on what you're wearing them with and your overall style.

DownWithThisKindOfThing · 05/06/2024 10:17

I have some and like them. I’m not fashionable though
