Where is my black Whistles jacket?

Rainallnight · 15/05/2024 23:24

I have one of those jersey Whistles blazers which is incredibly handy and is the only smart thing that works for me at the moment.

It is missing in action. Not in my wardrobe, not in DP’s, not on the coat hooks, not in the dirty washing basket.

I’m slightly desperate. Going away tomorrow evening for a smart work thing on Friday mornjng.

If you were my jacket, where would you be??

Back of your office chair
Hung up at work
In the boot of your car
Under another coat or jacket on a hanger
Bottom of the wardrobe
In your partners wardrobe if they have one
In the bottom of the laundry basket with the dry clean only clothes
At the dry cleaners
Airing cupboard

All of these, plus your gym bag or your coat cupboard (if you normally keep it in your main wardrobe). Or, because they are pretty crease-proof, did you decide to put it on a shelf or in a drawer, to free up hanging space?

do you have a daughter?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 16/05/2024 18:12

In your work locker that you havn't opened since 2020.

Your child has "borrowed" it.

I have this jacket in 5 colours! Absolutely love it!

Me too - black, navy, grey, burgundy and one with black and white stripes. Used to wear them such a lot for work pre-COVID but they seldom come out of the wardrobe now. Can't bear to get rid of them though!

stringbean · 16/05/2024 18:28

Oh, and a mid-blue one...

hellswelshy · 16/05/2024 20:03

Oh god op I lost a very beloved black Jersey blazer from M&S. Never found it. Was bereft. Hope you find it!!

Hepzibar · 16/05/2024 20:05

@stringbean

Black, Navy, white, camel and a light grey.

I'm short so they suit me, most jackets swamp me

ilovecherries · 16/05/2024 20:19

I have several, were a pre-Covid work staple. I keep saying I should get rid of them, but they are just so perfect for smartening up any outfit (black, navy, ivory, bottle green and pale pink)

TheCoolOliveBalonz · 16/05/2024 20:26

It's hanging in your wardrobe where it should be. Mine does this. It's very good at hiding. Trust me.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 16/05/2024 20:29

I love mine because it's so comfortable - can't stand most jackets, as too restricting.

At least they still make them so, if worst comes to worst, you can buy another, OP. Though appreciate that this doesn't solve today's packing dilemma.

In reality, though there is a 99.99% that it will miraculously reappear in your wardrobe by Monday, right where you have been looking for it, whistling innocently, and pretending it has never been away.

RosesAndHellebores · 16/05/2024 20:42

In the car
Back of a restaurant chair somewhere

Acunningruse · 17/05/2024 09:09

If it's normally in the wardrobe, it's in the coat cupboard hiding under the big winter coats.

Or in tge bag/suitcase you last took on a trip away.

At the bottom of a suit carrier.

Where did you last have it?

stayathomegardener · 17/05/2024 10:58

Over invested in this, can you check your camera roll, ring doorbell or similar? That's normally how we track things down.

Rainallnight · 18/05/2024 12:42

Thank you all so much for your lovely replies and giving me a laugh among the way.

It’s still missing. My important meeting is over and I work a sort of structured Cos top which was fine but definitely not exactly the look I was going for.

Bottom of the wardrobe was a great idea and I was positive that would be it. I found some interesting stuff but not that!

I don’t drive, DC are too young to be interested, not in suitcases, not on coat rack in hall, not in dry cleaning bag, no ring doorbell unfortunately (love that thinking). I’m going back on Monday to an office I occasionally work from and will take a look.

If it’s not there, then it’s gone 😢

Just to back up what everyone on this thread has been saying, it’s SUCH a useful jacket. The fabric means you don’t feel as stiff as in a normal suit jacket, but you still look smart and pulled together. I wear it at weekends sometimes going out for dinner over a maxi dress but more often in work over trousers and a top.

I’ll definitely have to buy one if this one is gone.

Have you checked your wardrobe looking between every single hanger? If had stuff slip off before now and it has been invisible sandwiched between two other items. Makes note to cull wardrobe.

@Rainallnight it is indeed a handy jacket. I buy one every year, usually when there is 20% off. I have grey, navy, burgundy and pale blue. Black next year to replace the grey which is getting tatty. One of the best buys available.

Now that you've introduced us to the jacket - I'm definitely ordering one as I never found a great replacement for my Gap jersey blazer - I think you need to share the details of the COS top, because it sounds like you've got great taste op. 😂👌

stayathomegardener · 18/05/2024 14:55

My Vinted purchase arrived today, currently drying in the sunshine it's a gorgeous blue marle so going to work brilliantly with my wardrobe.
