So sun’s out and I need to replace the £5 sunnies I’ve got. I have a slight complication in that the optician has recommended black glass rather than brown (I kept getting headaches, this does seem to help).

I’ve got around £200 to spend but not sure what style would work.

so more stylish ladies- what are your sunnies like?

Anyone?

Mine are Rayban polarized and I live somewhere the sun shines all year round - although they are brown they massively reduce glare and light intrusion, but you can still see where you're going! Lots of options but I think mine are the Erika style and were about £125. DH recently got some in the aviator style and can't believe how much better they are than his old ones.

longdistanceclaraclara · 11/05/2024 13:50

I've worn ray ban wayfarers for years. Love them.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 11/05/2024 14:30

Ooh, the rayban Erika have a dark grey glass option that might work.

Goodr

'A gingers sole' Black plastic rather than glass "though

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 11/05/2024 15:01

In terms of trends, I don't think there's any one style. Round frames came back a while ago and one finally found a pair that suits me, from tkmax which usually has good ones.

What's your face shape ? That's the most important thing.

thedendrochronologist · 11/05/2024 15:15

I love raybans as there are pretty timeless esp the wayfarers or new wayfarer.

I think Erika is more fashionable

I want some polarised ones as DH has some and I'm jealous. He has Justin polarised.

Callingallbutterflies · 11/05/2024 15:16

Soul not sole...sorry😬

doubleshift · 11/05/2024 15:30

I wear rayban Ericas tortoiseshell with the classic green polarised lens and new wayfarers for activities like dog walks.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 11/05/2024 15:37

Ok so does everyone just have raybans?

The quality of Raybans has gone downhill.

All my old pairs are in great condition but newer pairs are not as good.

I've been meaning to go to Idzipi (sp) for a try on, they look nice.

Prada can be good if you find a pair without too much branding, but a bit over your budget unless you can find a discount.

I personally don't love raybans, a bit too unisex for me. I've had multiple pairs and they're never my favourite.

PhuckyNell · 11/05/2024 15:59

I borrowed my dh oakleys and now they are my oakleys

When did they start to get a bit rubbish. Mine are 4 years old and still great?

GlobalCitz · 11/05/2024 16:23

Another vote for Goodr if you're an active person.

Never ever ever slip (even when running intervals) are ridiculously light and I adore mine.

I have the Bassett Hound Dreams and the Amelia Earhart Ghosted me

Friend bought some sunnies from Ace and Tate that look very nice. I've been in Ray-Bans for a couple of years (wrap around style) and have recently pulled the trigger on some from Chanel for my holiday. Which I'll probably be too nervous to wear and will end up using my new ones from Bloc.

GlitteringUnicorn · 11/05/2024 16:51

I'm a sunglasses geek and have lots of pairs- most Ray Ban or Chanel
This year have bought some from Meller. Took about a week to arrive (from US I think) but are actually really good quality.

iwantavuvezela · 11/05/2024 16:53

I love faceaface, not cheap, but excellent quality, and amazing styles

The Goodr look great. I hadn't come across them before.

faustina · 11/05/2024 20:33

I have these (I prefer brown because I find black too dark for driving). I think they have them black too. Bought them on Vestiaire Collective, but not before I tried them on virtually. it really does make a difference what kind of shape your face is though! Go to one of the sites where you can try on virtually and you'll see. Hope you find something :

I have tried loads over the years but now only wear Tens sunglasses. Lovely styles and really make a difference light wise unlike so many brands designed purely for style.

Have worn Raybans consistently since leaving uni (I bought myself some as a present for finishing my last exam). Have some fun trying on all their styles & one will call to you

trader21c · 11/05/2024 20:49

Chanel’s just love them

Penguinsmum · 11/05/2024 20:53

I have Chanel and Gucci. I would recommend just trying on lots and lots of pairs and see what you like. Report back to us! ❤️

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 11/05/2024 20:59

I wear Ray ban Aviators and Justin both polarised. Think their aftercare is spot on.

I broke my Justin's (snapped the arm off), still had the receipt two years later, contacted Ray Ban expecting to pay to get them fixed and they replaced them.
