Hunza G swimsuit - splurge or not

User000001234 · 28/04/2024 19:18

Please can someone talk me down from spending £175 on a swimsuit that I will probably wear for about 3 weeks a year?!

Here it is www.hunzag.com/collections/swimsuit/products/domino-swim-black

Also, I'm a size 14 with a belly...these swimsuits claim to be one size fits all but I can't seem to find any pics of what someone who's would look like in it.

These are one size and a few pics online

After some googling, I've actually found someone trying on some of the Hunza G swimsuits. Think she's a size 16 or 18.

They actually don't look very bun munching on her or too highly cut either. I am still resisting though.

The tik tok girl is gorgeous, but I don't think the swimsuits are doing much for her at all. They squish her boobs down into her middle to make her look more blocky than curvy.

Both colours look lovely against her tan and hair, and I concede I assumed the costumes would look way way worse, but she could be looking incredible in something else.

I just bought the next swimsuit linked up thread in a different colour and it's incredibly flattering. I wish I'd seen it when more of the colours were in stock.

Mosaic123 · 01/05/2024 14:33

I was in M and S yesterday and they had a huge selection of swimsuits. Some with Magic Shaping. I don't think you'd pay £50.

Divasaurus · 01/05/2024 15:01

For a similar price check out Ralph Lauren swimwear (good selection on the John Lewis website). I’m also a size 14 with 36DD boobs and a c section pouch and I feel AMAZING in the one pieces I bought. I can’t tell you how flattering they are and I never feel good in any swimwear.

These are my favourites - I have the yellow and royal blue in the first style and orchid in the second:

I clicked the link expecting something spectacular. Hell no, OP. If you're going to spend that kind of money at least look for something that doesn't look as if you picked it up in Primark.

minipie · 01/05/2024 15:21

Just looked at the tiktok, they are a lot better on the bum than I was expecting, but awful on the boobs.

Got to say I don’t think that tiktoker is a typical size 18! She’s young, tanned, toned, and very in proportion with no specific wobbly areas. And very pretty of course. No wonder clothing companies want her to try their stuff and say “this is how it looks on a larger size”…

TheExclusiveSandwich · 02/05/2024 07:02

Everyone says that to her about her size and I think quite justifiably she gets quite pissed off having to repeat the fact that she is larger than she looks (because of her really good looks and amazing hair!

I used to follow it drove me mad because she never wore bra that did anything for her and that is my bete Noire)

Emanresu52 · 15/02/2025 18:38

I wouldn't even buy that in Primark, looks cheap and nasty to me.

Isinglass20 · 15/02/2025 18:41

I bought nice one from Asda last year for £14. Equal in quality to M&S and John Lewis. Swimsuits don’t last either salt and sun lotion or swimming pool water ruins them.
However if it’s just for posing at the side of a pool and not for getting wet I suppose expensive one will do.
Im too old to have it riding up my bum crack😎

SparklyLeader · 15/02/2025 18:59

But will you wear it every year for three weeks for the next several years? If so then it's 58 pounds per year. Shopping math.

ErinBell01 · 15/02/2025 19:02

Looks ok but nothing special for that money. And it's not exactly the sort of swimsuit you can throw on at a moment's notice is it? You'd need extensive waxing before you'd dare wear it. And it doesn't like heat!

Christwosheds · 15/02/2025 19:08

I remember when this brand started, they had vest dresses etc in that fabric. I really don’t think it’s flattering unless you are small busted and thin, in which case almost anything is flattering and no need to spend £175 . Agree with pps, there are nicer swimsuits about with a better shape for a curvier body .

Toptops · 15/02/2025 19:56

No!

BatInATopHat · 15/02/2025 20:00

I buy them from Vinted! Got my last one for 30 quid

They're ok! I'm short and a size 10 and they're not super flattering on me but meh. Good enough!

Mrsgreen100 · 15/02/2025 20:57

Unless your arse is much skinnier than the models, I’d swerve it it’s not doing her any favours

jillycat72 · 15/02/2025 21:39

I think there are much prettier and flattering swim wear out there. I think it looks similar to something as previous poster had put from Primark

Isthisjustnormal · 15/02/2025 21:53

If you fancy a more spendy option that m&s op, I really rate seafolly costumes. Mine is old and not in stock anymore but similar to this: https://uk.seafolly.com/products/seafolly-collective-multi-fit-gathered-wrap-front-one-piece-11172mf942-black. Well made; great quality and the rushing is super forgiving and flattering.
although looking at the new range I’d be tempted with something like this: uk.seafolly.com/products/seafolly-collective-cap-sleeve-zip-front-one-piece-60290-942-black

Considering it tells you not to expose it to sunlight for long, or chlorine, and that it can’t be spun it’s not much use for anything! It does look gorgeous though!

Lulu49 · 15/02/2025 22:56

Are you mad?! I was expecting to see something really gorgeous but plain black cossie!!!!!

YourWinter · 16/02/2025 17:35

Crikey. That’s ridiculous.

madaboutpurple · 16/02/2025 17:53

I think it looks so plain in my opinion. Not worth buying at all .

crankytoes · 16/02/2025 21:21

TheExclusiveSandwich · 29/04/2024 21:30

Op

for the love of God, do not wear a black swimsuit abroad you look like you are in mourning

What a peculiar comment. I wear swimsuits and bikinis in many colours including black. As do many other women. No one looks like they are in mourning

dorathexplorer · 16/02/2025 23:27

That reminds me of the bubble ones we all wore as kids in the 1960s !

Abracadabra1 · 16/02/2025 23:46

Don't waste your money. I tried one on, they are dreadful. No support at all, deeply unflattering.

RavenhairedRachel · 17/02/2025 15:51

It doesn't look like a £175.00 swimsuit.
It doesn't even look nice on the professional model.
There's far better out there for a lot less money.
