this time it's

this top (the 'loose fitting' description appeals to my postnatal [darn it i can't use him as an excuse any longer can I?] tummy)

and this looks as though it would be useful [old]

and \link{http://www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Women&styid=WA191&segid=6&gpname=Shirts+%26+Woven+Tops& desname=Fun+Button+Kaftan&gpid=28&gen=1#imgthis surely would be a good poolside item?}

you see, i am just so not a boden person, but they make me think i am, damn them

I've never been a Boden person (cheapskate) but I keep getting money off things and fee p&p codes. I'm being cyberstalked by Boden and I'm blaming MUMSNET!

DarrellRivers · 31/03/2008 19:30

My rule for boden, admire in catalogue, but buyer beware
They never look as good in the flesh

warthog · 31/03/2008 19:32

i lovingly flip through the catalogue over a coffee, and then automatically throw it in the recycling. i'm always unhappy with the fit / colour / feel. it's just not worth it.

MamaG · 31/03/2008 19:33

OOH I like the second "chic cardigan" lol
I could wear it for work

tell me about "chambray" i've just orderd some trousers in "chambray"

missblythe · 31/03/2008 21:02

Beware the Chic cardigan!

I have it in yellow-wore it today, in fact-but it's a bugger to wash, has gone v. bobbly and the buttons are just knitted circles, with no plastic inside them, which is just really annoying.

Also, it's makes my boobs look big. Or maybe that's my big boobs.

Obviosuly decided none of this until I had worn it a couple of times, so am now stuck with it.

This one, on the other hand, is lovely!

MamaG · 01/04/2008 12:45

I will avoid the chic cardigan then, thanks

MrsBadger · 01/04/2008 12:46

chambray is like really lightweitgh denim

MamaG · 01/04/2008 12:47

Thank you Mrs B = I ordered those chambray maternity jean things from next (and the white stitch boarders) - you prob don't remember

£24 for both, can't really complain about that!

MrsBadger · 01/04/2008 12:48

I do remember, I think they're a v good buy at that price

CountessDracula · 01/04/2008 12:48

I don't like boden on adults at all

thefunkypea · 01/04/2008 12:50

I'm always disappointed by the fit - i don't think I'm such an odd shape (things generally fit from other stores..........) but the sleeves are too short, and the waists are too small relative to the hips. Also, their jersey tops look lovely, but would it kill them to put a teeny bit of lycra in them so that they hold their shape after one wash...... rant rant rant...

scampadoodle · 01/04/2008 12:50

I liked the chic cardigan but there was too much of a wait when I did my order last week.

I've just received my chic beaded top

here

& it looks lovely in the packet but they've sent me a 14 instead of a 12 so I haven't tried it yet.

padboz · 01/04/2008 12:52

what is a boden person?

thefunkypea · 01/04/2008 12:54

my sister! she manages to pick up stuff in their Cambridge sample sale and always looks fab - would look like a heffalump if i wore the same stuff

padboz · 01/04/2008 12:56

I'm 5ft. They seem to assume you're 15 foot

thefunkypea · 01/04/2008 12:58

i'm 5'10'' but they don't look any better with height.....

bozza · 01/04/2008 13:00

those cardigans have 3/4 sleeves. I have a wardrobe full of 3/4 sleeves and cold wrists.

EffiePerine · 01/04/2008 13:08

I just don;t think any of their stuff is flattering at all

either dull or too quirky

Tutter · 01/04/2008 13:09

ooh bozza, i love 3/4 length sleeves though

they are incredibly flattering

unless you have fat wrists

OP posts:
fishie · 01/04/2008 13:16

anything called 'fun' requires a wide berth.

if it goes bobbly send it back. their knitwear is too expensive to permit that.

bozza · 01/04/2008 13:47

I don't have fat wrists, although fairly big boned so not little slender ones either. But when I am at work I get a draught from the a/c on my non-clad wrists at the keyboard. A/c is rubbish - cold on a cold day and hot on a warm day. I am currently wearing a jersey wrap dress with 3/4 sleeves and coping.

claricebeansmum · 01/04/2008 13:50

did massive order from Boden and sent it nearly all back including the hideous free cardigan. A linen dress could not have been more unflattering - slightly worse than a sack. Look lovely in brochure but in reality not so nice and the quality is not what it was - now expensive for what it is IMO

MehgaLegs · 01/04/2008 13:52

I would like this and this But I can't afford £118.00

MehgaLegs · 01/04/2008 14:19

Strange - just got a mailshot from Johnnie so have now orderd with %15 off and free delivery! I am so bad.
