Foundation for freckly skin?

I am have freckles (but am not particularly pale) though have a paler neck than my face/chest so am struggling to choose a foundation colour! Is that typical?! What should I try to match it to? I normally go for a soft beige/nude shade, but feel my face ends up looking darker than my neck.

Following this; I have the exact same issue! I have quite greasy skin so I tend to use powder foundation. I usually use the Laura Geller one, but it’s annoying to source; I often have to get it from America.

It’s hard, isn’t it?!

This is what I use but wondering if I need a shade that’s a bit more yellow?!

I've been using the Clinique Even Better foundation, it covers them really well.

BusterGonad · 13/04/2024 12:28

I personally find a peach tone is best for freckles. It looks more natural.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 13/04/2024 12:51

Spa Magik BB cream suits my flecked face.

Saxendi · 13/04/2024 13:01

Erborian BB cream in nude works well on me, I find bronzer makes a difference, I like Vieve cream bronzer very easy to blend.

Sparkletastic · 13/04/2024 13:36

Yes to Erborian BB
Don't try and cover freckles - a girl without freckles is like a sky without stars Smile

howshouldibehave · 13/04/2024 13:40

Thank you all! To be honest, it’s not really the freckles that are the issue-it’s the fact my neck is a different colour (much lighter) to my face and chest/shoulders which are all darker. My skin tone is quite yellow

I use the Number 7 City tinted moisturiser. But if I go out I use the Georgia Armani something silk one, can’t remember what shade but it is a lovely light foundation.

Stentor7 · 13/04/2024 13:50

I use Laura Geller too, with her Spackle Primer under it. QVC have Laura Geller at very good prices.

Stentor7 · 13/04/2024 13:52

Sorry, meant to quote BrotherUrgh.

I don't think OP wants them covered. I think they are asking what to match the foundation with. Her neck? The freckles? The spaces between the freckles?

Yes, that’s right!

My face skin is one colour, my freckles are darker. My body skin (shoulders/chest etc) is quite tanned but my neck is really pale-I don’t know what bit of skin to match the foundation to! The freckles are probably a distraction but they make things more difficult as they add another issue!

I use a tiny bit of self tan in my moisturiser on my neck a couple of times a week to take the mega whiteness off it - might be worth a try.

This can be a problem but with a too pale foundation the freckles being made paler can make you look a bit grey. A peach or rose tone will make the freckles look quite normal in tone, iyswim. I use foundations that match my face, usually in a rose beige or beige ivory shade. If I go too pale or porcelain my freckles go grey and I just look weird. I've tried and liked Clinique Ever Better and Even Better Glow, No7 Hydraluminous and Lift and Luminate and Lancome Teint Miracle. They are all sheer to medium, with the No7s being a tad heavier, particularly the Lift and Luminate, which I use for nights out etc. I then use a cream blusher which allows my freckles to show through and looks more natural to me than a dusty powder blusher.

BusterGonad · 13/04/2024 14:45

Also if you blend your foundation down your neck then it will help for a seamless match, you could always just pop a bit of bronzer on your neck. Tbh I doubt anyone would notice the difference anyway.

smellslikecinnamon · 13/04/2024 14:46

I think you have quite a bit of leeway as you have so many tones going on.
Make sure you get the right undertone for your overall skin. Warm, cool or neutral.
Then I would try to match your skin between freckles. I wouldn't go as pale as your neck as your neck is the outlier. Your face and body is darker.
There is a risk that the freckles look a bit ashy with a paler foundation on top though so I would keep coverage sheer.
Maybe somewhere like a Mac or Bobbi Brown or Charlotte tilbury counter could help

BusterGonad · 13/04/2024 14:49

I think the Max Factor lasting performance might be a bit heavy for freckles. If I were you I'd get matched at No7 and try the hydraluminous or their essentially natural foundation.

Hermittrismegistus · 13/04/2024 14:51

Have you tried a Korean foundation? I find they are the best for pale skin with yellow undertones. I love Missha M magic cushion.

That's true, I have the Sulwhasoo perfecting foundation cushion in 23N Sand and it's perfect for my tone and for my freckles. It runs very peachy and is so flattering.

bradpittsbathwater · 13/04/2024 14:57

I use no7 bb cream in fair. I don't like thick coverage or covering my freckles.

Cheeesus · 13/04/2024 14:58

I tend to match the skin under the freckles, which in my case is very yellow. Bobbi brown is good for yellow tones. Also the no 7 colour match.

Then if I’m looking a bit paler than I want then it’s easy enough to add a bit of blush or bronzer.

That’s useful, thank you! What is no 7 colour match-is it a range?

You can get your colour properly matched in large Boots stores.

BusterGonad · 13/04/2024 15:38

With a machine, they test a few parts, maybe cheek and jaw then they get a foundation colour match for you.
