I am have freckles (but am not particularly pale) though have a paler neck than my face/chest so am struggling to choose a foundation colour! Is that typical?! What should I try to match it to? I normally go for a soft beige/nude shade, but feel my face ends up looking darker than my neck.

I’ve just started putting moisturiser with a bit of fake tan in it on my neck to try to match it to my face. My neck is snow white with no freckles, so the little bit of tan booster makes it match a little better.

That is actually a really good idea! I think I will try that.

Does anyone know which Boots stores in London do the skin colour matching? I think I will go and get that done.

Any Number7 counter with an advisor should be able to do it, OP.

I think the Max Factor lasting performance might be a bit heavy for freckles. If I were you I'd get matched at No7 and try the hydraluminous or their essentially natural foundation.

Is the No7 essentially natural foundation good?

I don't know from personal experience but all reviews say it's light and natural and gives the skin a glow. Hydraluminous is good but from my understanding slightly thicker.
