I would like a swimming costume which covers my arse please.

Every swimming costume I look at is cut away across the arse cheeks. I don’t get it! I’d like my saggy old arse covered and I’d still like quite a nice customer. I’m tall and slim (ish) small boobs, saggy arse. I like clothes and am quite stylish but not too trendy and not too sexy. Send your ideas this way please. Thank you!

I wear a cossie with swim shorts (like board shorts, baggy but shorter) over the top.
I'm not big but I hate having to yank my clothing to stay decently covered.
I go swimming with my toddler and I can't keep them safe and play with them if I'm constantly aware of my clothing.
Would that work for you?
You can also get swim shorts/bottoms that are more like hot pants and they are more covered but not as obvious as my choice.

I need this thread! I am slimmish but with a generous bum. I don’t need the matronly styles and the rest give me wedgies.

Lands End tugless swimsuits. They're cut so they cover you properly. I swim most days, they never slip or ride up. I just put my swimsuit on, swim and never have to think about what I'm wearing.

Matalan have some great swimwear just now. Cheap too

norma1980 · 28/03/2024 07:52

I have Nike swim shorts and their tankini top

Elley123 · 28/03/2024 07:56

I also recommend Lands End Tugless. I actually have 2 that I alternate and find they give good coverage to my more than ample derriere.

Deakin & Blue sounds like it might work for you.

I'm a massive fan of 50's style swimsuits - this UK site is stocking Esther Williams (who was to swimming what Ginger Rogers was to dance) ones. I have 1 bikini & 2 one pieces - full cheek coverage & very flattering.

Another vote for Lands End.

My swimsuits from them have been fantastic. Good, firm fabric, well cut.

StressyMessyJess · 28/03/2024 09:20

I've just bought a few bikinis from Shein.
Quality isn't amazing but I only want it for a holiday/the odd swim.
Lots of them come with little shorts.

I tried some bikini style shorts and found they were a problem as they didnt have a proper gusset (just a seam down the center of the crotch) so they rode up and were quite uncomfortable as soon as I started moving around in them. So if you do choose to go that route, look at the construction of them carefully and/or do some leg lifts/bend over when you try them on!

Mathsbabe · 28/03/2024 13:44

I also vote for Lands End

CurlyWurly1991 · 28/03/2024 13:45

Decathlon do a swimming costume with shorts legs. I need one too!

Octavia64 · 28/03/2024 13:48

You want boy leg type.

I swim so tend to choose on material etc rather than how nice it looks but there are lots around.

I wear a surf suit. Decathlon has some. Amazon too.

minipie · 28/03/2024 15:02

The Lands End tugless look absolutely perfect on the bum (fabric all the way to the bum crease, yay!) but it’s a shame they only do the tugless bikini bottoms in high waist/tummy control. I’d like some normal rise bikini bottoms with more arse coverage please shops!

Unfortunately shorts style look awful on me as I’m pear shape so they cut across my widest area and sometimes roll up.

BlueBlueCowWondering · 28/03/2024 16:40

agree Lands End but beware no free returns.

I have normal (not their tug less) and they cover really well. And previous swimwear lasted for literally more than a decade!

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 28/03/2024 16:56

I had a look on the Lands End website and there's some nice stuff, but the shipping costs are expensive.
It seems like an American based site, is there any way of buying it more locally in the UK or Ireland?

matalan usually has just what you’re looking for, their swimwear is great

Also have a look at next

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 28/03/2024 18:48

Oh cool, thanks!

Fenimore · 28/03/2024 23:23

I have this from Decathlon. It’s a swimsuit that looks like a Tankini. Might be too frumpy for some but for me it looks good. I’m cracking on a bit and really don’t want skimpy swimwear!

LivesinLondon2000 · 29/03/2024 11:59

Love all these suggestions. I have a couple of Boden swimsuits which are pretty good coverage wise.

But I have never understood why women’s swimwear has to be so skimpy - my theory is that it’s to save money on the fabric. Men would never tolerate this 😂
