How do you ‘smell nice’? Best smelling toiletries?

All our clothes are washed in Fairy. We use the M&S Apothecary diffusers and candles round the house and I also have a moisturiser from this range which reminds me of spas. Nonetheless I still feel like I don’t ‘smell’ of anything nice!

What moisturisers/lotions or body sprays do you use and where from?

Stupid question, but do you use perfume or consider using it?
I use a Chanel No. 5 dupe and love it.

ExcitingRicotta · 27/03/2024 20:50

If you really want to smell strongly of a smell try wearing a perfume and the body lotion of the same perfume.

mdinbc · 27/03/2024 20:56

Agree a scent from soap or you house won't last very long on your body. Go find a nice cologne or perfume that suits you. I have a light daytime fragrance, only one or two squirts of spray, just enough for someone close to me to notice without it being overwhelming.

bryceQ · 27/03/2024 20:59

Akt deodorant in after thunder and I wear aromatherapy associates oil on my chest . I'm told I'm very fragrant 😂

buswankerz · 27/03/2024 21:01

Ila body oil is divine

NC03 · 27/03/2024 21:01

I layer stuff, not necessarily the same brand but similar scents
I would wash using a bar soap then shower with a vanilla coconut shower gel and use a vanilla body scrub (I don't use the scrub daily though!)
Moisturise with a vanilla body lotion
Add vanilla or coconut perfume

If that's too much then sometimes I swap for a fragrance free lotion
Get a lot of compliments that I smell nice/clean

Around the house I use Reed diffusers in the bathrooms and wax melts in the hallway

Molton Brown shower gels last a long time in me. Otherwise matching body lotion and perfume

suki1964 · 27/03/2024 21:02

I shower, wash my hair and wear clean clothes, I smell absolutly gorgeous

I dont understand the need to add "stuff" but then Im an Aspie and find perfume and cosmetics way too over powering

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 27/03/2024 21:06

I got a nuxe body oil, shower gel and perfume set at Christmas and I get a lot of compliments from that (the oil also makes my skin really soft and I'm in the pool at least three times a week so my skin can get very dry). I do think it's the layering that helps the scent stay

Can I ask what your vanilla body lotion is, NC03…?

Curlyblondefemale · 27/03/2024 21:42

www.moltonbrown.co.uk/store/bath-body/body-lotion-cream/orange-bergamot-body-lotion/NHB050CR3

I use this and get asked often what perfume am I wearing.

Dove Shea and vanilla, I think it's called pampering
I use loads of different ones, sometimes mix a scented body oil into a fragrance free one as well

Garlicnaan · 27/03/2024 22:17

I appreciate this may not be after but I wonder why we need to smell of anything at all?

I can't help but feel that layering on various fragranced products every day and using heavily fragranced detergent etc probably isn't good for us.

I mean pretty much everything seems to be bad for you at some point
Alcohol, red meat, ultra processed food, car fumes, not exercising enough, passive smoking, sugar, sedentary work, too much sleep, not enough sleep, risk of car crashes, being hit crossing the road...
guess you pick your vice because if you avoid everything bad it's not much of a life spending your time avoiding everything that might possible harm you

I like bath oils.. Either Floris bath essence which also scents the bathroom and landing, or Oliverum which I have sneaky arm sniffs through the day..

I use a Chanel No. 5 dupe and love it.

What dupe do you have please?
I use chanel no5 and I'd be up for a copy.

AngryLikeHades · 27/03/2024 22:31

I can smell the beautiful smell of my Dove (original) roll on deodorant on me and I love that.

JMAngel1 · 28/03/2024 05:06

I use Mitchum powder fresh gel deodorant
A body oil - currently Aromatherapy Associates which is devine.
Then before I get dressed, I spray my body and clothes down with a body spray - currently a VS Bare Vanilla one
Then a good 4 sprays of perfume - Narcisso Rodriguez for her is my go to but also loving Zara Red Temptation Winter - sometimes I layer them.
All day people tell me how good I smell.

umberelladay · 28/03/2024 07:27

Palmer coco butter. It lingers and who doesn't like smelling of cookies 😁

You gave me my first smile of the day! I do same but sadly do not smell “gorgeous”.

One day I passed someone who smelt lovely like baby powder and I wondered how they achieved it as it wasn’t strong but enough to smell. I discovered the same angrylikehades but I don’t think anyone else smells it but I like it anyway. Perfumes just don’t suit me.

MissHarrietBede · 28/03/2024 07:47

@AngryLikeHades OOOOH! do tell which Chanel No. 5 dupe please!

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 28/03/2024 07:47

I shower using soap (currently some handmade ones from India that smell lovely) and shower gel, then normal nivea body lotion or cocoa butter from Tesco, then just a couple of squirts of perfume.

I wash clothes in bog standard washing powder, no fancy smells just clean clothes. Hate fabric softener smells.

I don't get the need to have everything with a scent. In fact too much is over powering and cloying.
