£295 Anya Hindmarch “Everything” Pouch Bag - should I get it?

BakeOffRewatch · 25/03/2024 13:05

I’m looking for something that will hold phone, cards, keys and sunglasses. I want to be able to wear a cotton dress and not need a coat or cardigan, just take this with me. I like that it holds sunglasses and that the bag is see through, so that I don’t have to take the phone in and out a lot, I use contactless and Face ID for travel. But it costs quite a lot!

www.libertylondon.com/uk/logo-everything-xl-pouch-bag-R555442006.html

Can someone tell me if they have it or are a fan of AH and recommend it? It’s sold out on the AH website so I assume it’s popular.

Has anyone seen similar? I saw this for £45 on The White company website but it’s not clear if you can see the phone through the back.

www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/Inflight-Cross-Body-Pouch/p/A09668

Other ones I like to give an idea:

Metier Minimalist Double metier.com/products/minimalist-double-glossy-calfskin-forest-green it holds sunglasses and though it isn’t see through, phone would be easy to get in and out, no zip. Very expensive so no way I’d be getting this one.

Godi Phone bag www.godi.uk/products/copy-of-large-adjustable-phone-bag-in-ice-blue?variant=42835829784743 holds phone, keys and cards, easy to get out, but nowhere for sunglasses

I’m thinking I should just get the AH one as it is exactly what I want. Looking for reassurance it won’t fall apart after 3 years, or that there isn’t something similar out there? I’ve never spent this much on a bag, I’ve usually bought practical everyday leather bags from places like Reiss in the sale, and keep them forever. But I can’t see something like this in the usual high end high street places.

I have seen this advertised on Instagram recently. You can use your phone whilst it's still in the pouch. They seem to get decent reviews and have a number of fifers at the moment.

I wanted to buy one of their crossbody phone cases but my phone size was sold out so purchased elsewhere.

Good luck.

Justkeeepswimming · 25/03/2024 15:28

I don’t like that it is labelled with the various items not that the sunglasses are loose - mine cost as much as the bag and I definitely wouldn’t want them on the outside getting scratched… if a fiver then ok.

mulberry Anthony springs to mind as similar size, proper bag not a pouch and more protective for sunglasses… there is a mini version.

Justkeeepswimming · 25/03/2024 15:32

sorry Antony, it’s £375 for the mini

ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit · 25/03/2024 15:41

If you like the AH one and can afford it then get it. Anything else will be a compromise. Incidentally it’s £10 cheaper on the AH website plus 10% off first purchase so you can save a bit vs buying in Liberty.

I have a Smythson phone case which I love for days in the office as I often wear dresses without pockets and it has card pockets on the back, perfect for work pass and debit card. https://www.smythson.com/uk/light-rosewood-phone-case-with-chain-in-panama-1029561.html?utmsource=google_shopping&switch_store=true&pdg=pla-295107849526:kwd-295107849526:cmp-1508264527:adg-156264611697:crv-689521237336:pid-1029561:dev-m&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwYSwBhDcARIsAOyL0fg5JcaeKzLAlq4svDy9N8bzfBklJDtxRf9qXKWoTnlNDvGf69daxrgaAlLoEALw_wcB

My DS had his heart set on a wallet that was hand tooled and coloured on instagram.
It was £295.

It was a lot of money, but looked after will last 100 yrs.

He ended up getting it, I really believe that IF you can afford it, go for the one you love, not the dupe.

As to the plastic tearing or marking, that's the only thing that would worry me.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 25/03/2024 16:46

There’s a pink one on eBay at the moment (assuming you are in the UK?). £100 cheaper and looks in good condition if you like the colour?

£295 Anya Hindmarch “Everything” Pouch Bag - should I get it?
Ireolu · 25/03/2024 17:17

Its cheaper on NAP. I don't think it's worth the money as its PU leather but I am not after of these catch all cross body pouches. I think the symthson posted above is better value but may not be as practical for you.

PrimalLass · 25/03/2024 17:19

It's a plastic pouch for £300 so I would say no!

Calling · 25/03/2024 17:29

No.

LadyBird1973 · 25/03/2024 17:34

Sorry OP but that's awful - it looks like a plastic pencil case from WH Smith!

Normally I'm in favour of buying the bag you really want but not that one. The £45 one is as much as I'd spend on that tbh!

leafybrew · 25/03/2024 17:38

Fugly

And it's a no for all of them - don't like the long rectangular shape - which I guess is the whole point. I'll get my coat ....

Sussurations · 25/03/2024 18:01

Personally I dislike AH’s bags because of the logos but I think this one is quite fun, and I can see it being very useful and therefore worth the money, if you can afford it.

MrsK · 25/03/2024 19:35

I’ve got the everything Pouch, I use it every day. It’s a bit stiff at first & difficult to get things out, but, softens up with use.
I get everything I need in there, there’s a section inside for bank cards etc & the middle section has a zipped pocket.
I’m an AH fan although not so much the zanier styles

BakeOffRewatch · 25/03/2024 19:49

Thanks everyone. We’re at the top of the shopping sidebar lol. I thought putting the price would be click-bait. I’m basically looking for a pocket that isn’t attached to clothes. I go out with a small leather wallet, keys and phone and sunglasses in summer. After DC1 I used a lightweight nylon bum bag, but stuff falls out if you wear it crossbody. Expecting DC2 and think the AH would be perfect hands free days out. Love the suggestions here and it’s helping my ads suggest. Had these come up:

£95 www.ospreylondon.com/the-electra-italian-leather-lanyard-phone-bag-celery-yellow I love this one, especially the sunshine yellow colour for summer, but not sure sunglasses will fit.

£22 www.next.co.uk/style/su036723/616282#616282 don’t think it will last. I’ve had Oliver Bonas card purses before and they get wrecked after a year, then bought the Godi leather wallet and it still looks new after years of daily use.

Thank you to all those affirming the AH purchase. I’m not in love with it, it’s just the only thing I can find that is very lightweight and holds sunglasses. I think I’ll have to go see it in person. I was hoping to hear from someone who owned AH about how they stand up to time and everyday use? Or even someone who owns this one. The one I linked to is the XL that’s why it’s £10 more than the others linked by PP. I can afford it but I would hate to spent ££ on a trend item where the seams then rip. The stitching doesn’t look high end to me?

I’ve had adverts for Bandolier and this would be ideal, but at £255 I might as well get the trendier AH bag www.bandolierstyle.com/products/billie-sunglass-side-slot-crossbody-black-gold?keyword=Sunglass

Really like the Smythson and Lonestar @MorticiaAddamsIsMyStyleGuru @ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit helps me with the right search terms.

I just can’t believe there isn’t a clear plastic wallet sold by a mid tier brand with a Sunglass flap.

Ah cross post! Thank you! How long have you had it? Do the seams and stitching hold up?

Ah NAP is quite a bit cheaper. I’ve noticed that recently. Are they at risk of going under like Matches?

@ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit The Smythson one is lovely

Motherofpearlxoxo · 25/03/2024 20:11

@BakeOffRewatch I really like the AH one but I’d worry it will get little scratches all over it. I’ve had a plastic bag before and the little tiny scratches got me down; I am a complete perfectionist though and one something is no longer perfect il pretty much done with it!

I have never had any problems returning stuff to NAP but the trust pilot reviews, last time i checked were disconcerting. I have AH bags and they have worn well. Don't carry them much now to be honest. Bicester may also have a few bits that appeal at cheaper prices.

MrsK · 25/03/2024 20:33

I’ve been using mine pretty much consistently since December without any problems. Most of my bags are AH never had a problem with Sean’s or stitching

Gandalfsthong · 25/03/2024 22:04

I’ve had many AH bags over the years, new and from eBay. Amazing quality, I love them. I have a clear plastic flight bag for toiletries which is about 8 years old and still going strong.

Queenofnothin · 26/03/2024 06:41

I had to return the AH one because my phone wouldn’t fit inside it (iPhone 14 Pro Max). I see there’s a bigger version available on her website now though.

Queenofnothin · 26/03/2024 06:50

Should have read the op properly - I see it’s the XL one you are looking at… I’d have got that if it had been available at the time.

I ended up getting this instead and love it because my sunglasses are protected in it and if I’m not taking my sunglasses out I can actually get quite a bit inside that pocket instead. Would recommend! https://www.anyahindmarch.com/products/essentials-crossbody-in-ah-logo-nylon-black

I've had a few Anya Hindmarch bags over the years and as PPs say, the quality is good. I have three of the nylon travel bags and they have stood up well to years of use so I'd say the Logos essential cross body linked above would be a good choice.

You could also look at Tumi bags - excellent quality; I have one that's years old and is looking a bit scruffy now but it's so practical and lightweight and fits so much in that I can't bear to 'retire' it in favour of my newer, smarter bags!
