£295 Anya Hindmarch “Everything” Pouch Bag - should I get it?

I’m looking for something that will hold phone, cards, keys and sunglasses. I want to be able to wear a cotton dress and not need a coat or cardigan, just take this with me. I like that it holds sunglasses and that the bag is see through, so that I don’t have to take the phone in and out a lot, I use contactless and Face ID for travel. But it costs quite a lot!

Can someone tell me if they have it or are a fan of AH and recommend it? It’s sold out on the AH website so I assume it’s popular.

Has anyone seen similar? I saw this for £45 on The White company website but it’s not clear if you can see the phone through the back.

I’m thinking I should just get the AH one as it is exactly what I want. Looking for reassurance it won’t fall apart after 3 years, or that there isn’t something similar out there? I’ve never spent this much on a bag, I’ve usually bought practical everyday leather bags from places like Reiss in the sale, and keep them forever. But I can’t see something like this in the usual high end high street places.

I got this in tan a few years ago and it's great for glasses/phone/ keys /wallet as it has separate pockets. I keep.my sunglasses loose ina felt pouch but would easily accommodate a case if you prefer. It has an adjustable strap and can be smart or casual too. Also vegan and looks brand new still after lots of wear not &300! Personally don't like the names sections on AH one, but I have (evening) shoes by that brand that are 20 years old and going strong !

I have a three year old bandolier and it’s still going strong. It has survived a nibbly baby becoming a super-strong toddler! It was my present to me myself just before he arrived, and has been with me through the early days and antibac hospital wipes, night feeds, getting dipped in dinners, getting dropped in the sea. I doubt very much a plastic pouch would have taken such a kicking and look so good still. I’ll be getting another when I get a new phone. That said, I love the sunglasses holder idea… very cute.

I’ve reread all your posts and I think it is the see-through plastic pencil case vibe that I like, so the nylon options aren’t what I want. I don’t want a bag, I want something weightless and faff free that will literally only hold sunglasses, phone and keys. If I have to carry more it would be in the huge rucksack with all the toddler accoutrements. This is for around my neck for travel, so I can check Citymapper without taking phone out and face ID through ticket gates.

The AH is exactly what I want in terms of pocket, see through, and secure sunglasses strap, usually I hook my sunglasses into loop in bag and then I bend over and it falls out.

Thank you for your post, @TigerRed . I’m glad I mentioned why I’m looking for this as your perspective helps, I’d forgotten about nibbly babies! My toddler is pretty civilised and un-nibbly now, and undribbly. Maybe I should get the £205 Bandolier Billie, the flat zip would be good for tissues or Muslin, but I do like the AH Everything more than that. I’m just so hot at the moment with the pregnancy and the slight spring we had I couldn’t wear any jacket or hoodie even. The Bandolier would be better for contactless at ticket gates though. I was looking at Casetify, Ideal of Sweden. The model for the Bandolier Billie shows it’s all leather, but the actual product has a nylon adjustable section - it’s not as nice.

On the Matches website they show a model holding it and I think it looks nice.

I’ll sit on it for a bit and go see the AH Everything this weekend.

I find Anya Hindmarch very confusing. Nobody outside the UK has heard of it as a label and yet it’s just as expensive as international brands.

Her “jolly” shit especially the brands as bags and the Tory policy making makes me think she’s a dick, but sometimes I do think she’s onto something clever with all the carabiner clasps and practical add-ons and changeable handles that work really well but don’t make you look like a mountaineer.

This probably has a lot to do with why I don't shop the brand anymore. Along with a few things ending up half price or less in the sale.

The metier one is beautiful, but like you, no way I'd spend £750! I preferred the Bandolier one to the AH one until I saw that insta post, she wears it really well.

I remember something similar being marketed as a dog walking bag - maybe take a look at those? They also cater to people popping out with just the essentials (plus poo bags, lol) whilst keeping their hands free. I don't have a specific one in mind, though.

I’ve been out everyday with my toddler and awkwardly trying to keep my valuables on the table outside of my coat pockets when we’re inside, with rucksack underneath on floor. I definitely need to be able to use my phone as easily as taking it out my pocket than in a zip or pouch. I think I would have bought the AH by now, I just don’t like the colour so will wait.

I did read previous threads on MN about AH, and I think I’d prefer to buy AH than disposable fashion. Everyone has their personal preferences, I’d rather buy AH who seems diligent about supply chain and sustainability, than Shein or Temu. I looked at reviews on Bandolier and similar like Any Di, some people said the extra pouches were not secure and could be pulled off as they use snap fasteners. Not good for a city or a baby.

@antibride your post made me laugh a lot, i got the Boden’s April Fool’s email this morning about their new dog poo bag, which is kind of believable but they pictures of dog poo in the email.

Thanks @Ireolu , that’s very kind of you. I’m wary of Matches given their recent solvency problems. What if I receive a faulty item or need a return or repair? If I buy directly from AH they do repairs for free for a year and afterwards you can take stuff back. I don’t know if it’s the same if I buy from Liberty? I have some Liberty beauty credit which was why I was looking there in the first place. From what I can see of the AH brand it’s still a designer brand that’s partly about paying for the experience, so I think I’d go there and have some cake at the cafe. I definitely need the XL going by comments on phone size under Instagram posts. I signed up to the mailing list which gives 10% off, does anyone know what kind of offer they give on birthday?

I’m still much more comfortable with the Reiss price point, they’ve got some lovely woven leather bags in now, and raffia totes like AH. I bet AH must have some strict copyright controls, because I haven’t seen any premium high street bags similar to her organisation or labelled ones.

I thought the same re matches and if they would honour refunds/returns or if brands would take ownership of repairs if there was an issue. Completely understand your reticence.

If you want easy access to your phone, one of these might be better (much cheaper ones available) Cross-body Strap – CASETiFY. I'm not sure how using it through the plastic on the AH would actually work.
