Does anyone use a lip stain that actually works?

Love the idea- but they either seem to dry out lips or disappear after 5 minutes.
would love to hear about any successes!🙂

I fell for the Wonderskin adverts I kept getting on Facebook, against my better judgement, but their lip stains have been life changing. I'm generally a pretty natural girl and their stains deepen the colour (because I choose a shade close to my natural lips) and last all day.

learieonthewildmoor · 25/03/2024 10:55

VB lasts really well. It will withstand drinking but not eating.
The Romand tints leave a light stain after fading. The darker colours leave a stronger stain.
madeinmanc: look at the Korean stains, like Romand and Peripera. Romand has bare fig which is a really natural mauve pink, which is my lip colour. They specialise in MLBB.

madeinmanc · 25/03/2024 11:06

Thanks for the tip, MLBB is exactly what I'm looking for but it's the first time I've heard this term. The bare fig looks lovely but is not quite a match for me, though it might be worth trying anyway just for how it looks. My natural colour is slightly more red.

Another vote for wonderskin from me! Looks like a weird gimmick when you see the ad, but it works.

I tried a cheap dupe from Amazon but it was rubbish.
might have to fork out and get the real deal!

This Dior one works for me

Alilacat · 25/03/2024 14:22

I recommend it - it looks vvv natural, too.

TheChosenTwo · 25/03/2024 14:28

Definitely the rare beauty one, I love mine - really is a pigmented oil, don’t have any issues with topping up, might do it after 4-5 hours or so but just because I like it ultra pigmented, even if I don’t I have to properly scrub to get it all off at night. Feels so nourishing on too.
I’ve got the colour Affection; it’s lovely!

Another vote for Fenty Poutsicle, but they're not all the same in terms of longevity. Berry banger barely stayed on my lips but Fuschia Wife's a keeper, was still there after a cup of tea and some lunch!

Thingsthatgo · 25/03/2024 14:37

Elf do a gloss and stain in one. Once the shine wears off it leaves stained lips. I was surprised how much I liked it. For day to day I blot off some of the gloss.

Backinthedress · 25/03/2024 14:46

Which colour of Rare Beauty would work well on a 'spring' complexion? (Dark blonde/light brown hair, pale skin that can tan but lives in england so usually doesnt, green eyes)

JanewaysBun · 25/03/2024 15:27

Following as i have really dry lips (i only use nivea lip balm normally) but would love a colour that doesnt dry me out

YouSayChorizoIsayChorizo · 25/03/2024 16:02

I love the Benetints. They're reasonably long-lasting but not bombproof - so I wait for them to dry, then smudge on a coloured lip balm. I use Burts Bees. The total effect looks natural, moisturises your lips and stays a good colour.

A recent discovery has been Mac Powder Kiss Liquid Lipcolour in Burning Love. They didn't have that shade in the lipstick I was after, so the assistant recommended this, and my god it sticks like a good 'un. Horrifically scary intense berry when first applied - which I rather like! - but if you're quick you can smudge it off with a finger, and you're left with a beautiful stain that lasts a very long time. If my lips feel particularly dry, or it's very cold, I put a colourless balm under or over it to stop it settling into lines.

Orangello · 25/03/2024 16:52

Wonderskin, but Clarins water tint is also not bad.

learieonthewildmoor · 25/03/2024 16:53

madeinmanc: if you look at colours like figfig you’ll find a match. Canmake, a Japanese brand, makes Bitter red which is a MLBB: I find it’s not very long lasting though.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/04/2024 13:08

I bought one from Avon a couple of weeks ago which seems to last really well. I do have to put lipstick or balm on afterwards as it is matt and feels a bit dry, but I actually slept with it on the other day, after wearing it all day, and it still looked good in the morning.

Watching with interest. I used to have a fab Revlon one which was like a felt tip at one end and lip balm on the other. It got discontinued about ten years ago but happily lasted until summer 2022 despite regular use.

I know exactly the one you mean! I had this for years as well. I had a lovely peachy shade and a rosy one. It was the best, and I cannot find a replacement that is up to scratch!

Pickingmyselfup · 11/10/2024 21:30

I got bayfree ones from Amazon and I think they are amazing! Some of them aren't the right shade for me but they last ages, I put one on to test when I bought them then couldn't get it off no matter how hard I scrubbed!

I use the coralish colour for a more natural lip and either put the romand blur fudge tint in pomelecco over the top for added colour or the coral coloured elf lip oil for shine and hydration (or all 3!) The lip tint wears off really quickly but the stain is still left behind.

I keep meaning to try the elf lip stain too.

beautyandpie · 11/10/2024 22:48

The barry m genie in green is good if you want a really pink stain.

I always found benetint disappointing and prefer the revolution dupe (the collection water lip stain is another dupe i tried and that was rubbish)

Want to try REM beauty lip stain if anyone has tried

farfromideal · 12/10/2024 06:26

I use Wonderskin and it really stays on all day

whateveryouwantmetosay · 12/10/2024 06:34

I'm obsessed with maybelline colour stay. It actually works.

I got a good one by max factor from the beauty outlets but they do them on amazon

I think someone should tell VB that advertising your lip products as dehydrating isn't the best marketing strategy Grin

I think you need to re-read this.
