My two favourite perfumes have been discontinued and I'm so sad!! Does anyone know ones that would be similar to either of them?

  1. Lancôme Poeme - my favourite of all time, been wearing it since I was a teen 😭
  2. Michael Kors Glam Jasmine

Any advice appreciated!

Jean Paul Gautier used to do a summer version of their Classique perfume. It was slightly different each year but I loved it.

DM also worse Je Riviens by Worth( round bottle) and Rive Gauche by YSL. She was obviously channelling French vibes in the 70s. They’re all similar chypre scents.

I feel your pain.

I love Opium (hate Black Opium). Even Perfume Parlour no longer has it

Opium hasn't been discontinued. You can get it at Boots, John Lewis, Sephora, Superdrug The Perfume Shop... I've just checked as this panicked me!

It was reformulated about 10 years ago but it still is more or less the original.

The PP envy dupe is about 95%. It’s a shame cos I originally had the oil and it was spot on. Then they’ve tweaked something and iits not as good . Still pretty good though. The oils last longer and are more try I would say. There are many more dupes around now. Eden perfumes was one.

Im hoping the gucci by gucci is the same, i can't wait to smell the Envy. X

Was it called Spite for Women? PP do make me laugh with their names. I like this ethos though. Why pay for marketing and packaging? I once had their car air freshener in Envy too!

It’s not been discontinued, but my purchasing ability has sadly - Chanel 19 EDP.

Currently ekeing out my last small bit so extremely grateful if anyone has any ideas for similarities? (Yardley Jade doesn’t do it for me!) Also, any of the Exclusifs esp. Beige and Boy.

Coriandre by Jean Couturier is similar. I bought a bottle for about 20 quid 5 years ago. Available on some websites though more expensive now and not that easy to get hold of.

Frederic Malle's Synthetic Nature is like a more sultry No 19. I love it. FM do 10ml bottles (unlike Chanel) so though is no less expensive if you buy a full size bottle, the 10ml version is reasonably affordable.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/03/2025 17:17

I loved Armani City Glam too - it was my perfume in the early 2000s.

A more recent discontinuation is M&S Autograph Plum Blossom & Autograph Celestial Fig - loved those too.

Jean D’Albret, Ecusson…….long gone sob 😢

I have worn this for 50 years - still available on eBay!

GellerYeller · 08/03/2025 18:00

I loved that Gucci from the 2000s pictured upthread.
Mugler Angel Innocent. The original Angel smells fab on everyone but me apparently.
Body Shop Mostly Musk oil. In fact, most of their oils from the perfume bar!
Kenzo Jungle Elephant. I used to buy it in Harvey Nichols where they said it was unlikely to be discontinued as it was a big seller. I haven’t seen it in years although we’ve picked it up abroad.
I love a heady perfume but I don’t have the budget these days.

RabbitsRock · 08/03/2025 18:01

Really miss Timeless by Avon. It was only £5 & I loved it.

43ontherocksporfavor · 08/03/2025 18:12

I’ve had to dig my PP Envy out now. Haven’t worn it for a while. I have the roll on oil. I prefer it to the spray. Lasts ages too.

Vivienne Westwood Boudoir 😞

Same. I have an old bottle that retains a bit of the smell and I treat myself to a sniff of it every now n then!
Also Frangipani by Chantecille.

Agent provocateur, that was lovely!

I used to love Gucci envy, do they make that still?

My mum wore one called Ma Grife or something similar, in a green and white box.

CK one was a very popular one when I was a teen, is that still around?

Agent Provoc is still available.

Agent Provoc is still available.

Is it? That's great. Do you know where? Struggling to find it but maybe I'm being dense x

BobbyBiscuits · 09/03/2025 12:22

Brilliant! Thanks so much. My mum loves it and hadn't found it for a couple years. It's her birthday soon! ❤️ X

RabbitsRock · 09/03/2025 22:26

Love Coty L’Aimant - still available but the cream perfume is so expensive now!

I really loved it to. Always have the body spray! Supposed to smell like Chanel no 5.

NippyNinjaCrab · 12/03/2025 17:36

I used to love Sun Moon and Stars years ago, do they still make that? My PP arrived earlier but I've not opened them as yet x

NippyNinjaCrab · 12/03/2025 20:13

My review of the perfume parlour dupes, the YSL Elle is horroble and nothing like the original, not even a slight whiff of a similar note, smells like an old pot pourri. The Gucci Envy however is fab, slightly sharper than I remember but wow yes I would wear this, hopefully it stays good when it settles. Gucci by Gucci, yes I can recognise the scent and I would definitely wear this, it's softer than the original with a woodier base if that sounds right. I can't stop smelling the Envy, brings back so many memories for me, nice ones, I'll alternate these and see how they last and smell after a day and hopefully ive found the replacements. The Envy is strong, one spray would be enough, I might try a roll on oil as recommended above xxx

43ontherocksporfavor · 13/03/2025 16:06

Great! Yes I’ve had the spray and the oil and find the oil to be truer to the original. I roll plenty on the palm of my hands and pat on my body and hair. Lasts well.

BobbyBiscuits · 13/03/2025 18:35

Just wanted to thank you for this link. I bought it for my mum and she's chuffed. It looks like a good site. Much appreciated! X

Zahava · 18/03/2025 21:24

Very late to the thread- I’m always loving fragrances that get discontinued!

Stella by Stella McCartney- however, Eden do an amazing dupe, really close to what I remember although not quite so long lasting.

CK2 by Calvin Klein- I never hear anyone talk about this but it was gorgeous, very ozoney and fresh, again Eden do a really close dupe

Libertine by Vivienne Westwood- I loved this as a student, I would love to smell it again now!

Miss Dior Cherie- I think there’s one that is meant to smell the same now but I can’t find it…all the flankers I’ve smelled seem totally different to what I remember

Ananya- the Body Shop- always got this for birthdays, in the little basket with shredded paper, soaps and bath pearls! Happy Days!!
