Hi does anyone have a kipling bag - they look nice and light but are they seriously uncool?

They are super practical and durable and fun.

but pretty uncool. Why I love them.

Cuppachuchu · 11/03/2024 12:42

They are very light, practical and durable. Perfect for holidays and trips away. I have a few in plain colours and use them often. Take the monkeys off.
Monty Don would have a khaki or stone coloured cross body, I bet. 😁

I don't think they're cool. However I've had Kipling stuff all my life (my old school backpacks were Kipling etc; in a country where you didn't have a school branded school bag). Also uni backpack, pencil cases and so on.
Now I've got a few mostly for on holiday - super lightweight and roomy. I like the more colourful ones. Extremely sturdy. DD has "appropriated" some of them as she loves them too. So my 10yo thinks they're cool.
And personally I love the monkeys.

DD asked for this bag from Uniqlo for Christmas and she loves it (says she can fit loads inside) I bought her a Kipling backpack from TK Maxx over 10yrs ago and that's still going strong. She carries all her work stuff around in it. The Uniqlo ones come in a plain fabric too and a good choice of colours 👍

I do and couldn't care less if they are 'uncool'. They are our overnight/cabin bags and have been doing a great job for years. My teens even use them!

Ok this is "style" and beauty so I was just wanting to know if this style was in fashion

I have some lovely bags but find I'm using my Kipling crossbody more and more . It's lightweight and a good size. It might be uncool but I'm of an age where I don't care .

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 11/03/2024 14:14

If you're not 'cool' yourself then you can't make any bag or anything else, look cool because you yourself are not. You'd just look like a fashion victim.

Kipling bags, with or without monkey, are so practical and as PP said, washing machine friendly. I've had my Kipling bag for the gym for 10 years now and it looks the same as it ever did.

Thanks for that. Bit mean

I have one, I love it, it's so durable although not the cheapest bag it's definitely built to last.
I'm 40 though so don't know much about cool/not cool.
I have a royal blue one and I love it because it's bright and cheery and looks great with a winter coat or a sundress.

coffeetofunction · 12/03/2024 22:53

Very very uncool

Pinkapron · 13/03/2024 01:20

I have a Seoul backpack that I use for holidays, it’s the best under seat carry on bag I’ve ever had 😊

Pickingmyselfup · 13/03/2024 22:20

Well I have loads and I don't care despite being 37 and seeing others 50+ carrying them.

I have 2 holdalls, one big, one smaller, one rucksack that I keep in my gym bag to take in the gym with me, it has mini plates, knee sleeves, lifting straps etc.

Then I have a gabbie s which I was using as an everyday bag but I recently ordered a gabbie for work because I need to pack my big kipling toiletry bag which contains the world, sunglasses, water bottle, purse, baby wipes, tissues, 700ml water bottle plus I attach my small lunchbox to it as well. It is so roomy, keeps everything organised and the material is light so that on my 40/60 minute walk it doesn't weigh too much and hurt.

I will also be using it as an airport bag for my holiday this year over my louis vuitton neverfull which 1. Can't be worn crossbody 2. Straps hurt when it's even semi full 3. It might be big but the organisation is crap 4. It's not that lightweight and is actually pretty bulky

It's not going to win any awards in fashion magazines where it's like "x star carrying the latest x bag" but as a pleb I have to carry my own stuff and choose practicality over perception. If I think I'm cool then I definitely am!

It's really not. I came onto this thread because I love Kipling bags. I tend to swerve this board because it seems filled predominantly with women who like/live to make other women feel worse about themselves. Not every poster does that but there is a 'type' on this board.

If you (general) think that a garment or accessory is cool or uncool that's fine. The minute you label another women as being 'uncool' based on their choice then that's where you should be pulled up sharply.

If you want to know what's 'cool' then there are a million different opinions but mine is that coolness is so much defined by women putting themselves together in whatever manner they choose and just not giving a toss what other women (it is always women), think. That is the epitome of cool to me and long live the women who do just that.
