Hi does anyone have a kipling bag - they look nice and light but are they seriously uncool?

Have a look on QVC @jellyfishbubbles as they feature Kipling pretty regularly if memory serves correctly. I have no experience of then but they do look super useful.

Will do thank you!

Yes, I take the monkeys off too!

Me too!

Isometimeswonder · 10/03/2024 13:16

Check Vinted. Loads on there including new ones.
I love my kipling bags, great organisation and the luggage is strong.
I buy plain ones, I find the patterns too much, bit childish. I take the monkeys off too! And you can sell them.....

DeliaDerbyshiresSlippers · 10/03/2024 13:27

I am going to check these out as I love uncool bags.

Jokes aside, everyone I know loves them, particularly people who love gardening and hiking. Maybe they're a secret sect? I wonder if Monty Don would wear one Grin?

I think they look nice with casual clothes. Maybe not for a office wear.

What the monkeys can be sold on?

Yep! Look on Vinted! Some are singular, few pounds each. I sold 5 as a bundle, got £12 or £15! (can't exactly remember!)

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 10/03/2024 15:01

I was really excited to find one in a jumble sale for £2. My 16yo daughter nabbed it from me!

JaneSeymourTheOnlyOneHeTrulyLoved · 10/03/2024 15:10

I have a really nice going out dark purple one and it has a bit for my door keys so when I’m drunk on the porch I can find them easily.

I also needed a day bag last year for going away for a few days with multiple children and my dogs and kept coming back to Kipling. Got a fab one (not sure if it’s a Gabbie or a bigger one) but I could fit all I had to take out with me each day and wear it comfortably with a dog lead in each hand still.

Simd1 · 10/03/2024 15:15

I think they are uncool, but last summer I decided I was going to get comfortable lightweight things for going on days out with the kids. So I bought a Kipling crossbody bag and a pair of Skechers, and I was indeed much more comfortable than when using my much nicer but heavier and sweatier leather handbags and trainers. No regrets and it washed up well in the washing machine (so did the Skechers!).

edgeware · 10/03/2024 15:17

I have a Kipling bum bag lying in front of me here that I’m sure my mum bought in 1997. I wouldn’t wear it out the house though!

imnottoofussed · 10/03/2024 15:22

There's some Kipling bags on tkmaxx at the moment seem to have a good discount but I've not compared to other sellers

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 10/03/2024 15:23

My gym and handbag are Kipling. I can fit loads in both.

I've yet to see a 'cool' handbag. What's the criteria for that then?

Has anyone else noticed that Kipling bags no longer have the key tag? I loved the security of attaching my key safely in the bag and really miss that feature. Unfortunately, the lack of key tag stops me from wanting to purchase another Kipling bag.

HouseofHolbein · 10/03/2024 15:41

I used to buy Kipling have moved across to roka now tho 😊

Nooo thanks for the heads up - I like this feature when a bag has had it

I have a Kipling as my holiday bag for going to cities. Super long strap that goes over my plus size body even when I wear a coat as big as a duvet to stay warm, fits loads in without being bulky and waterproof. Plus all the pockets etc makes it a hard target for pickpockets.

spiderlight · 10/03/2024 16:01

I have several and love them. I couldn't care less whether or not they're cool. They have loads of pockets and they can be machine washed and come out like new every time.

crazycatladie · 10/03/2024 16:11

I have one. I got it in the sale and love it.

Frumpitydoo · 10/03/2024 21:00

Aren't they on par with Radley, with their naff monkeys?
But if you like them then who cares?

JaceLancs · 10/03/2024 21:45

I have a big one as my gym and swimming bag
A black cross body one and a beige shoulder bag, which I use for holidays as they are lightweight and can be washed - ideal for pool or beach holiday too
I don’t mind the metal monkey tag but remove the furry ones

I love Roka too. Have several Paddington bags. Some bargains available on Vinted!

Mairzydotes · 11/03/2024 12:32

Thanks to everyone who mentioned Roka, I'm considering one to replace a worn out cross body bag .

jellyfishbubbles · 11/03/2024 12:33

The roka ones look a bit to utilitarian to me
