50 year old Northern mother of teens. DP is taking me to London to posh shop to buy me some jewellery... he's even had to make an appointment.
We are travelling on the train and taking the tube to the store (I think it's in selfriges) ....
I'm a jump suit and trainers kind of person. Heels will be uncomfortable to travel and walk in. What do I wear? Please help me MN with your fashion wisdom. Ps. I'm 50 and a size 16/18

I hope you're not concerned about dressing up FOR THEM but, rather, for yourself.

They are assistants. To assist YOU. Wear what you damn well like. You're the one in control and they are to fawn over you, not the other way around.

Maestro, play the Pretty Woman shopping montage.

Thank you for all your replies. I took your advice.
I wore my trainers and jump suit 🙌🏻 although it was SO hot in all the shops. Everyone else had their big coats on. Must be my Northern blood!
@TinkerTiger is there something wrong with saying Posh shop? Confused

Hoorah. What did you buy?

Gosh, everyone just wants to put a dampener on things, does it make you feel good to take the specialness out of something for someone!!

OP, you really wear what you want!!

If you’re doing a lot of walking about then something comfy on your feet, boots or smart trainers. You could wear jeans and a long smart coat? You make it as special as you want and how bloody exciting!!!

Selfridges sells everything from Muji to Chanel. It's extremely relaxed. There's absolutely no need to get dressed up.

@Mercurial123 I know what Selfridges is, I’ve shopped there plenty of times! What I’m saying is OP should wear what she wants! It’s a special occasion for her!

Of course, but she asked for advice.
