Crossbody bag for travel

wondabar · 27/02/2024 00:51

I want a crossbody bag for walking around the streets. Nothing big but something secure for walking around the streets of a European capital city, known for its pickpockets.
I'm quite liking the idea of an orange bag. Budget of around £100.

I have a purple Travelon bag like this where the zips effectively lock shut by attaching to loops elsewhere on the bag. Not sure if they have anything in orange but I love the bag.

Oliver Bonas has lots of orange stuff

I just use the basic lululemon anywhere belt bag - it's a triple prong so fairly secure and it's small enough (in the regular size) that it doesn't get in the way of day to day moving around / feel too bulky. They've got loads of colours!

The key thing, if you’re travelling is to have your phone on one of those lanyards

Mindmeld2023 · 27/02/2024 06:32

Cora and Spink do waxed cotton bags in various colours (including orange) and a couple of different cross body styles: https://coraandspink.com/
I have one and it's pretty comfortable and hardworking.

Why? Serious question!

Have a look at the Kipling range as they come in lots of colours and they may well do an orange. They are also good for travelling about as they don't weigh much and have loads of pockets.

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 27/02/2024 06:41

Roka make a small round cross body bag in lots of colours.

EricaJohns · 27/02/2024 07:16

Pacsafe.
They make what is arguably the safest travel bags. Slash resistant fabric, slash resistant straps, secure zippers with some having a way to padlock them closed and they often have a way to secure them to tables or chairs to ensure no one walks by and kicks the bag to steal it.

I don't know if they make an orange bag though so you'll have to nose around.

The OP wants personal recommendations.

I have a Kipling one for travel, won’t win any fashion prizes but is practical with lots of zipped pockets. Depending where/when you are going either wear it under your coat or keep a hand on top of it at all times. People do cut through straps apparently 🤷‍♀️

Jumbojem · 27/02/2024 07:24

I just got the ubiquitous Uniqlo cross body when I went to Rome. I use it all the time now.
Not sure if they do orange though but it comes in loads of colours and is so cheap you could buy several with a £100 budget.

This response makes me so cross. Of course you can Google but by asking on MN people will tell you what they have, what they like about it etc and will save you wading through potentially 100s of hits. And there are MNetters who love doing searches to help an OP. Thankfully more helpful people on here than rude dismissive ones.

Curious as to why you posted this unhelpful comment? People come on to Style and Beauty for personal recommendations and to chat about the topic. Are you unfamiliar with how internet chat forums work, I wonder?

OP, I saw a couple recently in Oliver Bonas. I have had their bags before and find the quality quite good.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 27/02/2024 07:49

Roka have orange cross body bags. You might strike lucky with a bargain one following the recent ‘ Lucky Dip’.

Second votre for Travelon...

Presumably so that if an opportunist thief tries to grab it out of your hand while you're looking at it they can't just run off with it.

Also stops it hitting the ground if you drop it.

Have a look at Radley. They have some lovely cross body bags in all kinds of colours.

Isometimeswonder · 27/02/2024 09:13

Big fan of Kipling. Lots of pockets and organisation. Most have adjustable straps for crossbody.
I have an orange one actually!
