Help me style these boots for a wedding guest outfit

I’ve just bought these boots as a random bargain purchase and thought I could wear them to the weddings I’m invited to this spring and summer (one is outdoor so thought this might be better than strappy sandals).

Need some inspiration for dresses or jumpsuits to go with them.

I’m 5’4” size 10/12, large of bosom. Decent legs but don’t want a mini. Don’t suit pastels but I guess any other colour other than white. I’m closer to 50 than 40 so nothing that screams trying to be a teenager again.

I thought maybe something drapey that’ll make me look louche and sexy but I can’t find what I’m looking for.

Ideas please!

Sorry, is this a wind up?

Ultravox · 16/02/2024 22:31

I love white boots. What’s your budget?

Ultravox · 16/02/2024 22:34

£200 max but fond of a bargain

No suggestions, but I love those boots. 😍

Ultravox · 16/02/2024 22:48

This is brilliant thanks! Never heard of either of these designers. Slightly over budget but it’s the ideas and styles I’m after so thank you.

I’m thinking something drapery and structured… Red?

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 16/02/2024 23:00

Blue?

Ultravox · 16/02/2024 23:03

I think drapey and structured is exactly what I’m looking for! Thanks @Usernamenotavailabletryanother

Love the red dress but high necks don’t really suit me. The blue is lovely but maybe too wintery as it’s velvet.

Maybe I’m looking too early before all the summer dresses are out.

I don’t think the velvet dresses suit the boots & those Elizabeth dresses probably aren’t great on big boobs & length wise are likely wrong.

The Anthropologie Bettina and Somerset dresses would look great with white boots.

I do think those boots are quite hard to style for a summer wedding

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/02/2024 23:12

Where do you usually shop?

Ultravox · 16/02/2024 23:28

I have a fair amount of Reiss & Whistles but also a lot of Uniqlo & M&S. I don’t normally spend loads on clothes and would happily buy on Vinted.

Nice dress ruined by that silly split.

Boots for a winter wedding? Maybe.

Boots for a summer wedding? Hard no.

White boots for a wedding at all? Only if the bride is wearing them and the wedding is in Nashville or the Chapel of Love in Vegas...

Why not?

I can't see much difference between these boots and a closed toe court shoe, particularly if the dress is a long midi or ankle length.

I don't like "strappy sandals". It's an interesting alternative to them.

What do you think will happen if OP wears these boots?

flipflopfly · 17/02/2024 03:10

Me&Em have some stunning dresses in the sales which could work for spring here maybe too long sleeved for summer but worth keeping looking back there. Browsing the sales though I think I'd be tempted to go trousers. Couple of ideas pink or red and get them hemmed to fit the boots. Then, find a top that worked for the weather, especially in the summer.

That’s an impressive collection of dresses at Stine Goya, @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle ! Love the Millie dress in all its iterations - very Christian Wijnants. And the 3D flowers.

I don’t see any problem with white boots at a wedding. (Assuming the bride or all the bridesmaids aren’t wearing exactly the same pair.)

But, @Ultravox I feel you’d be going down the wrong route with any tight cocktail dress. They’d look awfully old fashioned with the boots. And uptight rather than louche. A linen Alemais shirtdress would be perfect if you found something within budget in the sales. Or, if you’re a keen Vinted shopper, look for Zimmermann.

probably not what you’re after but I think would look good with the boots.
