Help me style these boots for a wedding guest outfit

I’ve just bought these boots as a random bargain purchase and thought I could wear them to the weddings I’m invited to this spring and summer (one is outdoor so thought this might be better than strappy sandals).

Need some inspiration for dresses or jumpsuits to go with them.

I’m 5’4” size 10/12, large of bosom. Decent legs but don’t want a mini. Don’t suit pastels but I guess any other colour other than white. I’m closer to 50 than 40 so nothing that screams trying to be a teenager again.

I thought maybe something drapey that’ll make me look louche and sexy but I can’t find what I’m looking for.

Ideas please!

Oliver Bonas usually has some decent dresses in your price range.

Have a look on Joe Brown website.

I haven’t added link a) I don’t know how to and b) there are lots of dresses that would look great with your boots.

Most of the models are wearing ankle boots with summer dresses so it seems “in” if you care 🙂

Ninety Percent have some lovely draped styles in for spring that could work.

To wear those for a wedding you’re best in something maxi and floaty (hem slightly longer than the top of the boot)

Ilovemyshed · 17/02/2024 10:08

A calf length floaty dress and a big floppy hat could work.

It would - as would the other Stella Nova dresses on that link.

Nice dress ruined by that silly split.

Absolutely

I like dresses with boots more than I like dresses with most sandals, I couldn't wear these due to height but I'd think they'd look great with a floaty but not too floaty effort, probably maxi or midi.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/02/2024 16:13

Definitely okay with a floaty-ish midi dress.

I’d be going for a jumpsuit or some kind of trousers with a boot cut (obvs)! Or perhaps some kind of skinny cut that will style inside the boots to show them off.

I love that, it's very Norma Kamali. @Ultravox if you'd be comfortable in that sort of dress you can usually get the Normal Kamali Diana dress (name of the style) for just under £200.

I don’t think these are remotely suitable for a summer wedding, will you wear socks with them?? Socks and boots at a wedding?? With a dress?

But hey, if you are, you need the hem of the dress to be lower than the top of the boot, you can’t wear a short or mid length dress, then an expanse of bare leg, then a boot…would be far easier to buy a dress you love, THEN work out the footwear.

Um, sheer tights?

And if dress covers top of boots then it doesn't matter.

MouseMinge · 18/02/2024 05:05

That style of boot is regularly worn with mini or midi dresses/skirts. Given that it's the OP's style they are entirely suitable.
