Everyone has shiny cheeks

It's over foundation so nothing to do with healthy skin or a serum.
Lots of actresses now have these lovely shiny cheeks, anyone know what product would go over foundation to achieve this without budging the foundation?

Thank you. I find blotting papers good too. I keep hearing how oily skin = slow to get lines, but sadly I’ve got the lines too!

My husband is also a greasy monkey and I swear, you could bottle what he produces and sell it for thousands. He’s nearly fifty and hasn’t got a wrinkle. It’s sort of annoying!

Fraaahnces · 12/02/2024 02:36

Hi @Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain - I think it would be fine. It is “almost” cream to powder on the skin. I don’t have oily skin but I lather on lots of sunscreen and moisturiser (loooots) which would break it up if it was prone to that. (I have had other creamy products disappear very quickly as a result.)

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 12/02/2024 06:01

You guys got me in a Google search googling the other Nars highlighters.

I did an experiment this weekend, wore Chanel vitalumiere foundation (I see it’s discontinued now, thanks Chanel!) with concealer and the Daniel Sandler blusher egg a Rimmel waterproof mascara and an old mauve eye pencil plus nude in rims. Never thought I’d say it but my skin was more glowy. Not glass like but glowy. And that’s without highlighter or balm. My skin is pretty good anyway combination dry. I think all my teenage and early 20s spots helped! Not many wrinkles only sagging in jaw. But I don’t like Botox or anything else so I’m happy with that.

Thanks! SIL doesn’t use sunscreen or just in moisturiser (she likes origins ginzing) so I think this’ll work for her. She is in a bit of a baby blur (second one almost 4 months) but could manage this I think.

Fraaahnces · 12/02/2024 06:20

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain - in that case, she’ll love it. You just stripe it on where you want it, and then blend with fingers. Idiot proof!!!

Great! She did raise eyebrows when I gave her a nice Clinique chubby stick (lips) at Xmas just gone though! As her baby was still new and made a comment to me as to whether I thought she needed it to brighten her face!

After her first DS was born almost 6 years ago now, I also gave her some Nars chubby lip pencils think one was called Sex Machine and the other Get Off but I said they’re just names!

Fraaahnces · 12/02/2024 06:34

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain - Nars product names are nauseating. If they weren’t so bloody reliable, I’d boycott them just for that. It’s like they have a 14 y/o boy doing their marketing.

totalnamechanger · 12/02/2024 10:11

Another vote for Jones Road miracle balm. I have a rose named one but they do colourless ones and bronzer type ones too. Also brighter blusher types for cheeks but I have rosacea so haven’t used them.

They are unnecessarily large, have a very strong ginger smell and are quite expensive. I’m sure lots of people could do with a half sized one. Not for everyone but I love mine. Definitely a shiny glowy look which I can notice in pictures too. It suits my dulling skin 😊

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/02/2024 10:30

I'm too old to understand the wish for a shiny face. I spend a lot of time thinking "Blot, woman! Blot!"

BigButtons · 12/02/2024 21:49

I was in London today and went to liberty’s to check out the miracle balm. I was hoping I would hate it . The dusky rose one just looked beautiful on. No stickiness and gave me a lovely brightness. I bought it🫣😳.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 12/02/2024 21:53

@BigButtons sounds good. Did you have anything on your face as a base under it?

BigButtons · 13/02/2024 06:51

@CinnamonJellyBeans no - no base. I can’t be bothered with foundation and the like. I always wear sunscreen and prep my skin- does that count as a base?🙂

niteklub · 13/02/2024 07:12

Lots of good suggestions-
Have been using a Lancôme highlighter, but want to try something different

CinnamonJellyBeans · 13/02/2024 18:57

@BigButtons I find it easy to wear the miracle balm straight on top of moisturiser too and was wondering if others do also. (Also good over foundation and tinted moisturiser)

Dusty rose is a great colour. I have that and a couple of others for a wash of colour on cheeks

I also have some of the brownish ones for contour. I'm not really sure about their purported use as an all over tint. Maybe on top of a tan?

BigButtons · 13/02/2024 19:21

@CinnamonJellyBeans wow- envious of the colour selection there! I quite fancied trying the clear one for an all over look. Since me skin is quite dry I don’t find it atall sticky and it makes me face fee really smooth and soft. I want more of them!

Fumnudge · 13/02/2024 22:52

Without wanting to dredge this up again, what made me start this was seeing both Dawn French and Dakota Johnson on Graham Norton (so from fairly young to older so prob not fillers) both with glossy cheeks but not sparkly highlighter and obviously both wearing foundation.
I found a mac strob cream in my stash but that lifted my foundation straight off so I'll know to go less liquidy than that.
Oh I wish I appreciated my lovely even skin while I had it

I think its Sunscreen. That MUST HAVE of modern skincare. I wear it but I’m frankly sick of hearing about it. And I have very shiny cheeks even with foundation. Fine by me….it obfuscates my age spots!

This Revolution balm gives the glass effect.

I bought a couple of these after reading on here. I thought they were pretty crap tbh. Disappointed! 😩

A bit late to the game but anyone wanting to try a good highlighter should try Chanel BAUME ESSENTIEL
MULTI-USE GLOW STICK in sculpting! It’s amazing and lasts forever

Twinklewonderkins · 24/03/2024 10:15

I use a pink toned powder highlighter , mine is a cheapo Superdrug Revolution one .
