Ugg boots, please advise!

I am looking at some second hand, they are tall with a big fur turnover at the top. The label on the back is goldy coloured, not sure if it says UGG as the photo is a bit blurry.
But they are lovely. Seller asking £120. I am willing to invest if they are the genuine article but can anyone tell me if this is too much or if they might be fake?

They don't look at all like the suede short ones which I hate, btw!

TIA

do you have a link? How much do UGGS cost normally?

Flight · 22/03/2008 12:24

I don't know what they usually cost, I thought people on MN would know

Here is the link

Nice boots

I like them too (I've only ever heard of Ugg boots on mumsnet!)

PuppyMonkey · 22/03/2008 12:27

I don't know whether they're fake or not but i wouldn't pay £120 for anything so ugly! Just my opinion, soz.

Flight · 22/03/2008 12:27

Thanks B

I have bought some of her other boots and asked if she would accept an offer but waiting to hear back...this is a big splash out for me so I hope they would be a good investment iyswim.

I hardly ever see boots I like that much. It is a bit of a holy grail!

Puppy I know the usual uggs are hideous, but I rather like these ones - seem to have a different shape.

MadameCh0let · 22/03/2008 12:29

They're so disgusting, don't do it. Unless you are 6 foot and 7 stone and trying to look a bit shorter and a bit fatter, then.... don't do it.

Flight · 22/03/2008 12:31

What is so bad about them? I thought they looked different to the other sort.

I really know what you mean about the short suedey ones, they are vileness personified but these look like normal boots with a furry bit. To me, anyway!

I think they would look quite elegant on someone tall and slim. And they look comfortable and practical. Far better then some of the hideous boots I see some women wearing when I visit England.

Flight · 22/03/2008 12:40

Belgo, come join me and we will wear Things People Think Are Bad together, and compliment each other endlessly

I have a lot of nice maternity stuff along that line too, if you are interested!!!

OP posts:
belgo · 22/03/2008 12:43

I've been in maternity clothes since 7 weeks this time round - with my first pregnancy I was mostly wearing normal clothes up until 7 months!

PuppyMonkey · 22/03/2008 12:46

Get yourself to Office, you'll get something much cheaper and nicer there!

Flight · 22/03/2008 12:46

Oh golly I was the same, it all just flopped instantly! There I was thinking I ahd regained some muscle tone, but no...

i like the website ugs and kisses.

they do like the Locarno original article. And they are £240 new. They do look very warm!

ScarletA · 22/03/2008 17:14

I love me Uggs. As someone who has chronically cold feet, they are wonderful. Uggly but wonderful. I paid £98 for them on ebay as they were ordered from Australia - only drawback is if they don't fit, you have to spend £15 p&p sending them back. £120 seems pricy for second hand but then mine are 2 years old, inflation and all that.

Below is a link that you might find useful

how to spot fake uggs

it also has ideas for boots that are exactly the same as uggs (and some of them a lot nicer) but just don't have the label

Flight · 22/03/2008 17:23

Thankyou very much, she's agreed to do them for £100 - result!

Off to read link!

Way too much for 2nd hand can get them for near enough that over t'internet or 140-160 in shops. Also just go for the classic ones none the the excess rubbish, then you have a classic worth the money.

Flight · 22/03/2008 17:34

Jane - this model sells for £240 in most shops (online - I've been looking all day!) and the cheapest was £170 in Asos which have long since sold out.

I think it's a pretty Ok price as similar ones on ebay are reaching £97 and not finished yet.

But thanks anyway!

If you can point me at some for £140 new I might be persuaded!

OP posts:
Jane68 · 22/03/2008 17:35

Flipping Nora! I am gobsmacked at those prices! Good luck and enjoy though.

Flight · 22/03/2008 17:37

I am quivering slightly at it myself, but I will be wearing them every day even if they are hideous in real life, because I have to get value out of a spend like this!

OP posts:
Jane68 · 22/03/2008 17:41

At that price second hand I'd be wearing them in bed.
