Ugg boots, please advise!

I am looking at some second hand, they are tall with a big fur turnover at the top. The label on the back is goldy coloured, not sure if it says UGG as the photo is a bit blurry.
But they are lovely. Seller asking £120. I am willing to invest if they are the genuine article but can anyone tell me if this is too much or if they might be fake?

They don't look at all like the suede short ones which I hate, btw!

TIA

well doneIt's interesting the point about being very good for cold feet - it's really important to keep feet warm.

Flight · 23/03/2008 10:15

Belgo, what size are you? I am planning to let them have lambs and will send you a pair when they are 6 weeks old

baby uggs - very cute!

Maidamess · 23/03/2008 10:20

Flight, they look a bit worn to me, like they have been worn more than twice.

Flight · 23/03/2008 10:22

I'll see how they are on arrival - there's always paypal buyerr protection

I saw some others that looked the same, also worn twice, I think they crease easily?

She's got a heck of a lot of posh boots hasn't she? Did you see the Pradas that went on this morning??

Don't buy UGGS - buy CELTIC - they are made in Devon and so have not been flown half way round the world and IMO have a nicer sole than UGGS - a bit more substantial. I live in mine and will be getting more next winter. My Celtics cost c.£100 new £120 is WAY too much for second hand may be dodgy UGGS

PrimulaVeris · 26/03/2008 15:49

Bloody hell is that how much the real things cost ...?!!!!!!!

DD asked for Uggs for her b/day (de rigeur for all stylish 12yr olds) and she directed me towards, ah-hem the, er, lower priced stores.

Got a pair for her £15 from New Look, gutted when found that they were selling in Claires for £10. At that price I am rather tempted myself ... but maybe I shouldn't really be posting in Style

worley · 26/03/2008 15:53

have a look at www.taylorshoes.com i got my uggs from there and (shock horror) my crocs too. the conversion rate works out to our advantage too.
i have used them several times with no propblems and fast delivery they are normally here in a week.

Fimbo · 26/03/2008 20:24

What happens with the suede effect ones though? Nobody seems to walk properly in them, the heels all go over to one side iykwim.

Surfermum · 26/03/2008 20:31

Worley - do you just pay the postage or do you have to pay any customs charges? I was just looking at pair of Uggs on a site in the States and also some Fanning flip flops. They're much cheaper than over here but wondered if it did work out cheaper in the long run.

pattymc · 26/03/2008 20:35

fake uggs do tend to lose their soles and that's where you end up rolling over and not comfortable to walk in BUT if you go for the cheap ones you can afford to replace them every year and then they look good too (uggs lose their look so quickly especially in bad weather.) I;ve just bought some of those knitted ones with buttons up side, sound gross but they look nice.

Flight · 27/03/2008 11:42

Well they have arrived...they are actually lovely! A tiny bit big I suspect after I've worn them a while, apparently they stretch? But are fine atm.
(with thick socks - I know, not meant to wear socks at all!)

I've checked the labels and so on and am pretty sure they're real, the thing is these are a different style so not the ones the fakers have bothered to copy iyswim. They'd be hard to copy as well, there are lots of details.

I'm really pleased with them
Got them for £90 in the end.

Willali I love the Celtic boots too. I see they're in Newquay

worley · 30/03/2008 12:36

sorry surfermum, been at work so not on here!
i've never had to pay any customs charges, i think the post and packaging is around £20 our money, i cant remember if its a flat rate, i paid that for 4 pairs of crocs and jibbitz, and another time for my uggs. i think it does work out cheaper in the long run though,
i was looking at a pair of crocs yesterday for work and they were £30 in the shops, so if your getting a few pairs in one go it works cheaper that way. and theyb have way more choice than here too

hope that helps
