hi, i posted on here before hopeing to get, some advice about what your dream bedroom would be like, you kindly told a few ideas, buta few suggestted when we lnow what sort of bed etc we are haveing, com back then

....so here i am

we have picked the furniture.
bed here

chestofdrawershere

bedsideshere

i want this bedroom to feel really nice, with a really luuxrious looking light fitting, etc

my colour ideas are
to have a featur wall behind the bed in a darker colour than the other three walls.

colour ideas
olivey and sagey greens dark and lighter
or dark chocolate browns with lights browns too

or greens and browns

or brilliant white with cerise and lime green hints [ think this is the idea im least keen on as we have a baby girl and i may need a pink santuary ! lol]

please add any ideas, i will be very grateful, we nice to have somewhere nice for me and dh, as lovelife wise, im still too scared for anything after 4th degree tear having dd nearly 9 months ago
but hopefully things will be better in time, and with a lovely new bedroom we will want to spend moretime in there

at the moment the room is horrid manky carpet from previos owners, beige and dirty
[we are going to put down a walnut floor]
and the walls are totally bare and plain white, theres also some skanky curtains, which need replacing with either wooden blinds or curtains.

happy easter to you all!
please give your ideas!!
thanks xxxxxxx

oh reading that back ive just realised how grim our bedroom actually is!

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 09:51

Nice choices. My first suggestions on reading are:
COnsider having carpet as there is lots of dark wood with your furniture, if not then add a large rug to cover some of the wood floor, rugs or carpet much cosier than just wood.
Also would suggest blinds and curtains to add glam/luxe feel.
Maybe Roman blinds with full length interlined curtains.
Glass light fittings (table lamps and a modern glass chandelier) again add glamour and bounce light around.
I liek dark colours for bedrooms, how about a purpley/plum colour? Looks fab with white bedlinen and dark wood.
Look at John Lewis/Laura Ashley and here for ideas

Also you might get more response if you post ths in property, there are a few of us "resting" interior desginers who lurk on there!

knat · 22/03/2008 11:54

hi i think the sage green idea would be lovely with that furniture and nice and restful. For full luxurius feel go for a feature wall in wallpaper (really nice ones around these days) and heavy drapes or as pannacotta said roman blinds and curtains. I wouldn't go for a walnut floor personally as i think it would be too much with that furniture. If you're on a budget try some of the diy places for light fittings they have some really nice ones now and i agree about chandelier types they can look really effective. Good luck and have fun.

Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 13:41

Cole & Son do some lovely wallpapers

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 13:52

thanks guys, its really nice of you to take the time to post to me, thanks for the suggestion to try propery,i will do that
actually dh said hed quite fancy plummy colours so i will think about that too.
forgot to mention, there is a ensuite to our mainbedroom as well so ill be decorating that too, new blind, towles etc.
thanks for the suggestions about other flooring, but im set on the walnut floor,as im fed up of carpets, but i will use your suggestion of a large rug in quite a light colour to to sort of break up all the walnut.
im really looking forward to the new room
the furniture is coming on thursday, and im painting the woodwork tomorow.
yes we are definatley going to go for a chandelier type light and a lamp either side of the bed.
im gonna have a surf for boutique type hotels to steal a few ideas

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 22/03/2008 13:57

We're doing up our bedroom too. Have bought tester pots of colours I like and painted big squares of lining paper to put up on the wall. Great for seeing how the colours change during the day and look against the furniture.

Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 13:57

Look at M&S for towels, the Autograph range is esp lush. Also have some glass lamps and even this

They are doing 20% off this weekend.
Laura Ashley also a good place to look for lighting/chandeliers and think they are also doing a promotion at the mo.

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 15:59

hi pannacotta, yes that light is lovely, yes thats the sort of look im going for

looking at your other links now

OP posts:
ChipButty · 22/03/2008 16:04

Was thinking plum too when I saw your furniture - but prob just for the wall behind the bed and for your accents, otherwise it could be too dark? How exciting - I would love to redecorate.

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 16:23

hi chip butty, thankyou so much for your input too, its truely valued

im reserching lik mad as the furniture coming on thurday

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 16:36

actually this might be nice if i went for the brown theme.

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 16:41

Cant get your fist link to work, think the birds on the second link might look bit at odds with your very modern furniture.
How about this one? Not too girly?!

Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 16:55

Thats funny, that was the same4 one I linked to in my last post of 16.41 (though it didnt work as I missed a bracket).
Looks ideal to go with your furniture and the colours are good too, the first (dark) one is esp glam and wouldlook fab with the M&S chandelier.

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 16:55

here
quite like this too.

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 17:00

Nice too, though from experience the Cole papers are really fab quality and look very classy.
Have you decided on bedlinen/bedside lamps etc?

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 17:14

havent decided on bedlinen yet.
i like those 3 ball glass lamps though id like a pair of those either side of the bed on eaxch bedside table

what sort of bedlinen do you like?

OP posts:
mybrainaches · 22/03/2008 17:19

With that furniture I think it will look lovely if you have a deep red feature wall, and candles, cushion etc.

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 17:19

actually that link above i was copying so i could see it, but i do like it
agree i like the dark one best

think the woods one
the blue flower one[cole] and that one are my favs so far

OP posts:
lionbeast · 22/03/2008 17:26

hi mybrain aches, thanks for helping,
the more input the better.
yes i think a deepo red would also be nice
as long as it was dark enough
