hi, i posted on here before hopeing to get, some advice about what your dream bedroom would be like, you kindly told a few ideas, buta few suggestted when we lnow what sort of bed etc we are haveing, com back then

....so here i am

we have picked the furniture.
bed here

chestofdrawershere

bedsideshere

i want this bedroom to feel really nice, with a really luuxrious looking light fitting, etc

my colour ideas are
to have a featur wall behind the bed in a darker colour than the other three walls.

colour ideas
olivey and sagey greens dark and lighter
or dark chocolate browns with lights browns too

or greens and browns

or brilliant white with cerise and lime green hints [ think this is the idea im least keen on as we have a baby girl and i may need a pink santuary ! lol]

please add any ideas, i will be very grateful, we nice to have somewhere nice for me and dh, as lovelife wise, im still too scared for anything after 4th degree tear having dd nearly 9 months ago
but hopefully things will be better in time, and with a lovely new bedroom we will want to spend moretime in there

at the moment the room is horrid manky carpet from previos owners, beige and dirty
[we are going to put down a walnut floor]
and the walls are totally bare and plain white, theres also some skanky curtains, which need replacing with either wooden blinds or curtains.

happy easter to you all!
please give your ideas!!
thanks xxxxxxx

i hope this bedrooms gonna be really nice

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 18:22

Only the border is silk!
They do other ranges, the quality of the Autograph range is great, have seen it in my local M&S.
White COmpnay (online) also good for bedlinen.

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 18:44

lol.. oh i was getting a bit ahead of myself there then! yeah it looks lovely.
ill check out the white company

i have never decorated a bedroom before, as we have been in this house about 3-4years and the walls are still plain white. in the old house the bedroom was decorated when we moved in and we liked it at the time so we stuck with it for the 3 and a half years we lived there

Good excuse to surf and flex the old credit card!
The Hotel du VIn chain has good rooms if you wanted ideas, as does Malmaison.

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 18:48

yes i think i may do it better if i copy something iykwim? as i like so many different things its just how they all go together. like the bird wallpaper for example.

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 18:53

Your furniture is quite modern and simple with straight lines.
Would therefore keep the overall look simple and modern too so for that reason I'd avoid the bird wallpaper. The other Cole and Son paper in my last link was more simpler and more modern.
WOuld suggest plain white bedding with a smart throw/bedcover in a draker colour (to go with teh wall colour) and glass lamps and modern glass chandelier.
Also plain rug and simple fabric for curtains.
If you feel happier using the ideas from a hotel why not do that, if you can find somethin you like?

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 19:16

yes i see what you mean about it would be better to keep it simple.
im having a scout round the net now.
yes i was thinking of white bedding and a throw and maybe some cushions too.
perhaps id be better just to paint the walls?

the room is rectangular. and the bedheadand bdside tables will be on the narrowist part of the room the widith, if that makes sense.
so even if i went for a very dark feature wall behind the bed it wouldn't matter too much as its only a very small amount of wall if you know what i mean.
say i went for a very dark green or plum feture wall, what colour would you paint the other walls? a lighter green/plum or creamy?

what sort of colour would you use on the curtains and rugs ?

im in totally agreement about the lights and lamps tpp
ill have to email you a piccy when ive decorated the room pannacotta

OP posts:
lionbeast · 22/03/2008 19:16

lamps too

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 22/03/2008 19:52

I'd either use a wallpaper on the feature wall and pick a colour from that for the other walls (I think using wallpaper behind the bed can look great, adds lots of interest) or I'd use a dark colour for the feature wall with lighter tones for the other walls.
Bedding in white with throw to compliment the darkest wall so either rich green or plum depending on what you choose.
Curtains prob in similar colour to the lighter walls so they don't stand out too much which can look odd, but maybe with some of the darker colour within the fabric as a pattern or stripe, perhaps a modern floral pattern or just a simple stripe, with plain roman blinds in the darker colour to tie in.
Not sure on rug, depends on how much light the room gets and if you have mucky DCs/pets etc.
Have you thought about using a designer/decorator? This is what I do (when I work) and its not that pricey. If you didnt want to pay for advice and help choosing you could use the free services at Laura Ashley or John Lewis though you are then limited to their ranges.
If you can find a young freelance designer/decorator it's often not too pricey and can save you making costly mistakes and will also save you hours of trawling/
searching.
Need to go and read a story to DS1 now.
Hope that helps

lionbeast · 22/03/2008 20:06

yes thankyou so much pannacotta its a massive help well i wasn't before but mm yes i am now thinking of using a design service, i didn't realise john lewis did it too. thank you for all your help
ill let you know how i get on !!

happy easter xxx
