If you are short and dumpy where do you buy your jeans?

I am 5ft almost 2 and a 14/16 on the bottom, but I cannot find jeans that fit nicely, they are always far too long even when buying short or petite lengths, also it appears that some short length looking at you White Stuff don't shorten the rise in proportion so the crotch ends up near my knees, I live in Fatface 5 pocket jeggings in short but still have cut 3 inches off the bottom, but they don't come in a nice mid denim colour, and I. don't really want to spend £70 plus on a pair of jeans, so where do you buy yours?

I’ve just discovered M&S magic jeans- four styles which go from skinny to slim to straight to wide, and come in short length 🥳. Really pleased as I’ve been hunting for a replacement for my beloved Oasis jeans for ages!

lindyloo57 · 07/02/2024 16:48

@StuckInARut40 can I ask which oasis jeans you liked, I love the scarlet style, but can only buy them on ebay.

DGPP · 07/02/2024 16:49

M&S with stretch

HiGunny · 07/02/2024 16:53

I actually bought a nice pair of short length straight jeans in River Island last week. I must have tried on every style of short jeans in M&S but they were all too long with flat shoes. The RI ones are the perfect length for me. (5ft 1.5)

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 07/02/2024 16:58

Another vote for m & s - Harper cigarette style

JodieFostersFurHood · 07/02/2024 16:58

Matalan

Moanycowbag · 07/02/2024 18:09

I should have said hate M&S jeans they are too long in short and too short in extra short, just call me Goldilocks 🤣I. shall have a look at River Island but I don't want to upset my 14 year old niece who loves River Island as her rotund 50 year old Aunt wearing the same might ruin her street cred!

Levi’s do lots of leg lengths, I have 501’s in 26 leg and ribcage jeans in 27. Both are meant to be cropped but are the perfect length on me. 5’1”.

I tend to look for regular jeans in cropped lengths as they tend to be slightly shorter than petite jeans that are all too long!

bingohandjob · 07/02/2024 19:25

Second the Levi's recommendation - best jeans I've ever had. I bought a pair several years ago in the sale for a bargain price and now have an alert on eBay for the same style and managed to pick up two pairs for even more of a bargain price over last few years. The denim is lovely with a touch of forgiving stretch and has aged/softened really well but retained good colour.

There’s no rule that says you have to wear jeans at all.

I don’t like them for wearing everyday I only wear them for going out.

SabbatWheel · 07/02/2024 19:30

Matalan and Tu (Sainsburys)

PoolNoodles · 07/02/2024 20:05

If you are near a Uniqlo they will shorten new pairs of their trousers for free. I have used the service several times, but with cords and lounge pants, so can’t recommend a specific jeans style. The changing room assistant will pin them to the length you want. One time they were ready for me the same day, don’t know if they have a seamstress on site or use local services.

StuckInARut40 · 07/02/2024 20:07

@lindyloo57 I used to love the Scarlett jeans! I then switched to cherry and then again to Lily. I was gutted when they went busy during Covid - managed to get a few pairs cheap on eBay but they’ve all finally worn out now and the new ones aren’t the same quality in the slightest (plus I don’t want to support Boohoo)

visavisapisa · 07/02/2024 20:26

M&S ivy for me!

Acrosstheeuniverese · 07/02/2024 20:27

M&S The Sienna straight leg.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/02/2024 20:30

I'm 5'5" but with really short legs. I find Next jeans work best for me. I can't get on with M&S jeans at all.

No there isn't but I have the same struggles with trousers and I'm not a skirt or dress person.

Next 14S work well on me (5ft 3). I have high waist slim and high waist bootcut.

BurbageBrook · 07/02/2024 20:41

I'm not short but my friend who is short swears by River Island.

I used to love next jeans but they are now about a foot too long as they just seem to keep making their 'Petite' length trousers and jeans longer and longer, and the last pair I brought and loved grew whilst I was wearing them to the point that they would not stay up so they got returned.

Have you tried the “s” sizes which are different to the petite? Not available in all styles though. Petite too short for me, S is just right.

lindyloo57 · 07/02/2024 20:52

@StuckInARut40 I love the scarlett been lucky on ebay managed to 4 pair at around £5 each in great condition, I have the cherry and the jade they must be over 12 years old I can't believe they still fit , very faded in black, now looks grey, I do have a pair of m&s senna but the denim is nowhere as soft as the oasis.

Bigpinkslippers · 07/02/2024 21:03

I'm 5' and my best fitting jeans came from Mint Velvet
