Warm, stretchy but not scruffy trousers

Due to a health condition I am having to do leg stretching multiple times a day. My skinny jeans are not in any way suitable for everyday wear now. I've been wearing leggings but they aren't that warm and also look a bit odd with the smart jumpers I need to wear on my top half for WFH video meetings.

Does MN have the answer? An everyday pair of trousers that are (thermal?) warm, don't look like joggers and are stretchy enough to do stretching in please. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

Thermal leggings (tonnes warmer than ordinary cotton ones).

I suggest looking in outdoor clothing shops - they'll have a combination of warm + stretchy trousers.

Thanks @DisplayPurposesOnly Those would fit the warm and stretchy requirements but still look a bit odd with the short (as in to my waist) smart jumpers I wear on my top half. I look at myself in leggings and waist length jumpers and my proportions look all wrong (36 inch legs).

The Stradivarius wide leg trousers aren’t a stretchy material as such but are wide enough leg that you could stretch in them and they do have an elastic waist band.

Acai trousers are good.

Budget- Matalan Bengaline

Menopause is making my skin sensitive so I'm already thinking of alternatives for my skinny jeans that I don't really want to let go.

Does it matter - no one sees your bottom had WFH. I normally wear my gym leggings or pyjama bottoms WFH.

These look better than you would think. I can’t cope with winter leggings and they make me sweat. I live in these at this time of year.

Woolovers do some nice grey cashmere leggings for about£70

Primark winter leggings are brilliant. I wear them for work all the time as so cosy and thick. I think if they are worn with boots and a long shirt/top/tunic they are brill

In my experience they don’t last very long and some are see through.

Saint & Sofia Finsbury Pant. So comfy and stretchy and can be worn dressed up or down. They are spendy but often come up on Vinted/Ebay for far less.

Sweaty Betty Gary yoga pants are great.

Frosty1000 · 28/01/2024 15:05

Stretch trousers from Niche online are great, comfy, warm and fit really well as they stretch. I live in mine as look smart but are comfortable like leggings. Cheap as well at £14 a pair!

LandsEnd , Starfish

bugaboo218 · 28/01/2024 15:24

I swear by lands end star fish trousers. I wear them every day for work.

They are so comfortable and are smart, but stretchy.

The sizes are quite generous though, so you may need to size down.

It does when I need to do the school run in the morning and afternoon. And it's a bit of a faff getting changed into and out of trousers during the day so a 'suitable for comfy working from home and leaving the house to walk to get the DC' is the compromise I'm looking for. .

There are already some ones on here I think will work, just need to try some to make sure they're long enough!
