I regularly try on ‘short’ trousers and they are still 2 inches long. I’m 5.3. I gave up trying to get trousers from there ages ago.

GettingStuffed · 20/01/2024 19:34

I used to wear their long but now regular. I have 32" inside leg

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/01/2024 19:35

I find their long a bit short. 33’ leg.

WhereAreWeNow · 20/01/2024 19:38

Oh this is so confusing. I'd just got used to (and was happy about) the new longer lengths but it sounds like they're going to be shorter again. FFS.

Allchangename354 · 20/01/2024 19:41

I used to be short, now extra short which are not in store and I have to order online. It’s a pain.

greengreengrass25 · 20/01/2024 19:44

Even the short wide leg Winter trousers were too long yet their tops are so short in length

tinytemper66 · 20/01/2024 19:46

I am 4ft 11 and find it really difficult to buy short length trousers 👖

Cathbrownlow · 20/01/2024 19:47

I used to be regular length but then I magically became shorter length.

CornishPorsche · 20/01/2024 19:50

Fuck sake, they barely do anything in the long length these days as it is!!

I'm a 32"inside leg and I'm fat. Until fairly recently, M&s were pretty good for this.

I need plus size jeans but most businesses think you can only be fat and short, not fat and tall. Looks like I'm on the hunt for an imaginary product once again.

The regular is on my ankle with the same leg length. No use in winter, fine in summer!

ohtowinthelottery · 20/01/2024 19:55

I also used to wear long but have switched to regular lately as the long became to long. Back to the fitting rooms with both sizes again then I guess!

MrsMoastyToasty · 20/01/2024 19:56

I much preferred it when they used inches for the inside leg length. I knew I could pick up a pair of 29in trousers and knew they would fit my 29in legs. If they could go back to an actual measurement, inches or centimetres, I would be happy.

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 20/01/2024 20:18

@CornishPorsche me too - short tall at 5ft10 but size 20/22. Most tall/long ranges seem to drop at size 18 🤯

CornishPorsche · 20/01/2024 20:20

@thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes yep. 22-24 really here and M&s jeans were ones I could buy without trying on. Just check the size and go!

Gah.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 20/01/2024 20:21

FFS people haven't finished moaning about the last change.

Allchangename354 · 20/01/2024 20:24

My bugbear is pjs. My legs do not grow at night! I can’t sew and have no one they can take something up for me. Next have a few petite styles but no where else I have found. There is a Sizing guide on the website 27” that used to be small is now xsmall.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/01/2024 20:25

They wouldn't change again if sales had continued at the same rate, so they must have absolutely fallen through the floor.

viccat · 20/01/2024 20:26

Their sizing is so inconsistent anyway. I once tried lots of their jeans on in store. Some pairs I could barely get past my thighs and others in the same size were inches too big at the waist. Same with the lengths, I generally wear short but that can be either way too long or just about long enough.

CheersToAMerryChristmas · 20/01/2024 20:28

It's so bloody sexist. Just size them in the same ways as the men's in inches.
I have to order 3 pairs to get the correct length. Then they shrink in the wash...

Kaykay247 · 20/01/2024 20:28

For all you ladies complaining about these trousers being too long, I have a 37 inch inside leg and the last change meant that I could actually buy m&s trousers for the first time in my life. Now both m&s and next have ceased doing extra long trousers. So even though all you shorties can take your trousers up, and I can't add to mine, now I can't buy trousers in any but ONE store now unless I get them made. So think yourselves lucky!!

SilverShadowNight · 20/01/2024 20:31

I agree with @viccat. I've even tried on two pairs of trousers in the same style but different colours and the fit has been completely different for each pair. I'd also love longer length tops and tops that allow for boobs.

I also want good classic pieces without lots of frills, and dresses and tops with sleeves.

Bargello · 20/01/2024 20:32

A few years ago I went from a regular length in M&S to a short. Their website says that short is 29 inches, extra short is 27 inches.

There is definitely something weird going on though as different styles of jeans seem to be different lengths on me. I have lost weight and need to buy a smaller size, might have to actually go into the shop and try them on. 🙄

Bagthepaperandshred · 20/01/2024 20:34

Same here. There's also a limited product range (and there never in stock, been waiting months for some size 8 sienna jeans extra short to come into stock I keep having to redo the email alert).

YireosDodeAver · 20/01/2024 20:35

Brilliant news - I was really annoyed when their "Short" trousers suddenly became the length that used to be standard and they stopped doing trousers short enough for me. I've been having to fork out for a tailor to shorten them every time.

My sympathies. My DD is short but we often can escape by buying regular and taking some off ( it’s a pain but still manageable) but yes, making them longer is a very different task!!!
